Well because Erik killed Dagon, and his children recognise Erik's actions by taking the Greyjoy name. The Harlaws would see Erik as an illegitimate king, so as far as they're concerned Jhorgo et all have no right to the name.

Who can say who killed Dagon? The man was found killed one morning. Erik only took over because he was the best man for the job, and the Greyjoy name helped with all that.

I don't think there's much doubt on the Islands as to who killed Dagon. Erik took over Pyke by force the same day that Dagon died. Usually people immediately suspect the person who profits most from an action.

I realize what it looks like. Just saying, nothing's certain.
But we can talk about these things IC plenty soon, Helya will be paying Qhored a visit. Should she head for Harlaw or Pyke?

Yea, sure, if you want, Sargon, you're more than welcome to. There's also Lord Rent Drumm, who has the Valyrian Steel Sword Red Rain, which you might enjoy to play as.

Not much, hanging around in Pyke for the possibility of war. Though everyone seems to be joining our side so there may not be one.

Alright guys, I've sent in the order to attack Bear Island. 10,000 men and 200 ships going for it.

Nothing like a little overwhelming force.
Wouldn't it be better, maybe, to win the war against the Royalists, secure our independence, and then go fight the North, though?

My current plan is not to declare independance, but to take territories from those that do; Bear Island, Fair Isle, and maybe the Shield Islands depending on what the Mander does.
Then, if the rebels win, they will confirm us in our new lands, and support us in holding them, cause they will have to deal with those who secede after anyway.
But if the king wins, and the only targets I've gone for having been those who were also his enemies, then it's easy to be accepted back into the fold. (Although if the king wins there is a good chance we will just declare independance and let him try and take back our shit).
Besides, with the king's army and the Riverlands army looking to converge soon, I'm trying to grab stuff as quickly as possible before there's a possible victor.

Well that kinda dampens my plans to hit some Royal ships on my way around the continent.
