Benfry meets with Ser Pedryc & Ser Edrick in the White Sword Tower to discuss potential replacements for the Kingsguard.
Once they are all together, Benfry starts by saying. "I am sorry I was not with you, my brothers, during the fighting. I did not dream that the Lord Regent would be reckless enough to bring the King to the battlefield. You did well in stopping his mistake from costing the realm more than it did"
"That is in the past however, and we need to consider new knights for entry into our ranks. I...am not as learned or informed in such matters as you, so I would like to know who you consider worthy? Piers has said that no political appointments are necessary so we require those on merit only" Benfry knew his background as a hedge knight meant he was not aware on those knights who were renowned warriors in the realm and hoped that Ser Yew & Edrick had more idea of such notables.
"As far as those who have actually approached me since the battle, Ser Tytos Blackwood and Ser Lucas Harlaw have expressed their willingness to take the white. Ser Harlaw I do not know, but Ser Tytos was one of the competitor's in the contest in Kings Landing where I won my cloak. His martial skills failed him then but he seems to have built up a reputation as a leader and general since then. Not exactly qualities we need of course, but I suppose it proves his valour. What thoughts do you have? Do you know of any warriors worthy of the white?" he enquired curiously

Dondarrion says, "Blackwood would be acceptable. As would Gower. He almost won a spot at that tourny. And there was another who did well... but I can not remember his name."
Yew thinks and then nods in agreement.

Benfry smiled "I still have some bruises from facing Gower. I'll be glad to have him as a brother. They were probably the two from the tourney which stood out, apart from Lord Prestor but, though a valiant warrior, perhaps the Westerlands need him more now with the chaos there since the death of Lord Randal"
"As regards the remaining two spaces. Lord Wydman from the Vale is considered a mighty warrior, as are his sons, so perhaps we could approach them to see if they wish the honour of the white? I'm afraid I do not know of many other fine warriors. Ser Jon Royce and Ser Timm Dayne were both excellent warriors in the Casterly Rock tourney but one is dead and the other left our ranks and broke his vows. Ser Lucas Harlaw has been suggested to me. I do not know his skill however. Perhaps Pedryc could face him in a training bout and see if he is up to the challenge? If he lasts longer than 30 seconds he should do ok" Benfry chuckles
"One last thing I have been thinking over since the battle. The Kingsguard are 7 to honour the Seven and that is well and good but, in battle or combat, we lack the numbers to perform our duty. I do not suggest expanding the Kingsguard, but I wonder if we could form a small guard..."The King's Men?" to bolster our numbers. I'm afraid I have no confidence in the goldcloaks or in the soldiers sworn to bannerhouses anymore. If we create a small militia answerable only to ourselves and the King, I believe we can protect him against larger scale threats. What do you think, Lord Edrick, Ser Pedryc?"

Both of the others nod at every word Benfry says, then the two exchange significant glances, "Benfry we have been discussing this privately... We both think that you are the best suited among us to become the Lord Commander." Pedryc said, "I am a swordsmen not a general."
Edrick adds, "I think you would fit the roll much better then I, so we would like to elect you." He smiles from his pillowed seat, "And then we would support your ideas enthuisastically."

Benfry looks pleased.Benfry looks gobsmacked. ooc: actually, I think this is a 'political' appointment. Cersei/Joffrey dismisses Barristan and appoints Jaime as LC, so I presume I will have to get Piers/Rickon to confirm this. Will write up a short scenario on this and send to you to get it 'in the public' as it were

ooc:Yeah but Piers will approve it. If the two other men will reject the position, it has to be yours.
