The study and Rookery of Pyke lies high upon one of the towers in the castle, it's long winding stairwell is worn smooth with the tread of countless feet over the years. Inside, the desks are covered in scraps of parchment, hastily scribbled on by Maester Grimon. A small cot lies off to the side, buried under old clothes and odd little knick-knacks, seashells and bits of bone, which Grimon has acquired over the years.

Grimon blinked as Sabastian walked in the room "Ah, young Greyjoy. Come in, come in. Please excuse the mess" he said, as he shuffled around making a vain attempt to tidy the mess of papers and half-eaten meals on his desk. His apprentice Ulfgar rolled his eyes behind the old man's back and helped him clear a space. "So how can I help you, young lord?"

He felt puzzled, he had almost walked into the man halfhour ago, the maester wanting to talk with him, but now he acted like he hadn't talked with him earlier. None of his thoughts showed on his face, so he slightly bowed his head.
"I just wanted to meet you, Maester Grimon" He smiled "Meera mentioned your name when I arrived, and I haven't been able to meet with you until now"
He looked around the rookery, wondering what the man had wanted earlier once more.

Grimon's face brightened at the mention of Meera's name "Ah yes, a fine child. Smarter than she looks. A great shame they do not allow women to study at Oldtown, don't you think?" he hummed happily to himself as he looked through the papers on his desk. He stopped after a few seconds and then looked closely at Sabastian's eyes. "Oh!" he blurted out suddenly "You're that Greyjoy!" he said excitedly. "How is your vision, my boy?" he stood up and shuffled up to Sabastian with a speed which belayed his age. He whipped out an odd-looking instrument and began peering through it whilst waggling his fingers in front of Sabastian's face.

He still felt a little confused on why the man didn't seem to recall meeting him earlier, so he was about to answer the man's question, even if he felt it a bit retorical.
When the maester rushed up towards him, he still didn't move, even if the move from the maester felt odd to him, he still looked as calm as the sea afer a storm.
"My vision is just fine, maester Grimon" he said as he followed the finger with his eyes.
"What do you mean, I'm that Greyjoy" he asked after a while.

Grimon grinned "The one with the odd coloured eyes, of course. A rare thing. In the Citadel they were unsure whether it was a sign of a defective birth, a curse from the gods or a gift of second sight, much like the Children of the Forest were reputed to have. Have you had any unusual dreams?" he began humming again and made some notes on a scrap of paper.

He looked at the old man with and odd look, wondering if the man was going crazy or not. Had he had any unusual dreams, what if he did. He was not bloody like going to tell a old man he didn't know. He shook his head and found his stature again, so if one had looked closely for a second, one would have seen that he had lied, when he answered.
"No, my dreams are like everyone elses, a unexplainable set of events in an strange order that has no meaning"
He then bowed to the old man and his apprentice.
"If you excuse me, but I need to go and talk with my lady mother"
He left the rookery, a bit confused at what had just occured.

Grimon rose unsteadily from his cot. A raven had arrived and began cawing loudly for some food. "Just a minute, my feathered friend" he said in a croaky voice. He patted the bird on the head and gave it a morsel of meat to calm it whilst he gently removed it's message. After transcribing and reading it, he sighed and called for his apprentice Ulfgar. When the sullen young man arrived he gave him the note and told him to take it to Lord Botley.

Grimon jumps at the sudden noise, spilling some ink over a parchmen. "Enter, enter!" he says, somewhat crossly as he applies blotting paper to the mess.

Erik enters and smiles to himself as he sees the Maester cleaning up the mess. "Hello, Maester Grimon. I believe we met years ago, I'm Erik Pyke. I felt I should let you know that you ought to pack some things for a bit of a voyage."

Grimon blinked several times "Pack? What for?"

"Lord Harlaw's ordered that you're to come with me on my diplomatic trip to the Free Cities. You'll send ravens back here to him, and serve as an interpreter in my dealings." Erik tells him with a smirk, amused at the man's confusion.

Grimon looks shocked, then angry. Then he pauses and mutters "Lord Harlaw, you say?" and settles down with a scowl. "Very well young master, just a moment..." he busies himself walking around the room, packing parchments, ink and other sundries into a small bag. He pats himself down muttering unintelligably under his breath as he does so. Finally, with Erik becoming irritated at the delay, he announces himself ready to depart.
Only to rush back upstairs a few minutes later and leave hurried instructions to his assistant Ulfgar on the feeding habits of all 26 ravens kept in the tower. Erik learns, though he does not want to, that Bern is allergic to fish, Karl prefers fresh shrimp and Alain is diaretic. Finally, Grimon announces himself ready to depart.
