Mag nodded. "I'll be back, Eastwatch Lord." He visited the steward and had his furs traded for some new bows and arrows, then sailed back to Skagos to make preparations for their trip to Winterfell.

"Men tend to exaggerate under torture, true, but they rarely do so while under my knife," Ser Jaymes said with a smirk. "I shall organize the men and outfit the ship, and we shall await your order to sail, Ser." Ser Jaymes saluted the commander, and turned to leave his solar.

Mag saw the Black Brother crossing the yard and he called to him. "Far-mahn," Mag said slowly. "You saw these wildlings yourself?"

Ser Jaymes was heading towards the barracks when the man he had seen in the commander's office called out to him. It took him a minute to understand what the man had asked, through his thick accent, but then he realized and responded. "No, I did not. I captured four of them and tortured them until they told me. They spoke of several thousand, and more than a hundred ships, at a fort north of the river far to the north. I do not think they have sailed yet, so perhaps your men only saw a portion of their fleet."

Mag regarded him curiously with his blue eyes. "And why do you think these wildlings will attack my Stoneland?"

Ser Jaymes shifted uncomfortably, aware of the gaps in his information. "I do not know. I believe the man was telling the truth about the numbers of wildlings and ships. I think that they simply wish to sail south around the Wall, but they cannot come between Eastwatch and Skagos without being attacked by our ships and sailling around the east side of Skagos would take them time and would be risky with the winter storms. I believe that Skagos would be a likely target for them simply because it lies directly in their path."

Mag smiled at this. "Let them come. No force bigger than three ships can enter our harbor at one time. Our gods gave us strong walls and narrow waters. No ship can land on our shores without being tore apart by large stones that gods who watch us always gave us."
