"If it pleases you, I will recommend that the King impose a fine or reparational penality of some sort to appease the crime he commited in Braavos, the proceeds from which, will come directly to you." Tristeza answered calmly, settling into a middle ground where she was comfortable. She fixed the Braavosi sealord with leaden stare, which was as immobile as it was indifferent.

"Do you know the crime he committed?" The Sea Lord asked calmly.

"I do not." she answered; "But I can account for Lord Varner's immense value to Westeros--I cannot imagine a crime worthy of forgoing him to your...mercy."

"He destroyed half of my palace, and killed hundreds in doing so. How much will you fine Lord Varner for the deaths of my friends and associates?" Sergyo asked.

Tristeza only barely stopped herself from grumbling in annoyance--who would have thought that her closest personal friend in the Westerosi government would have made her job so difficult, let alone that sacrificing him to the whim of a foreign Lord who seemed frankly, quite madl, could be the difference between success and failure on her very first assignment. "That is certainly regrettable," she said with real sorrow, though the majority of it was really self-pity. "In that case, I would suggest a different compromise: you are to have an embassy in Westeros, according to our work here so far--I propose that he be sentenced by diplomats from your embassy in King's Landing, and serve his sentence in Westeros--the only other condition being that you must grant the Lord Regent one veto in terms of the suggested sentence--I assure you, the King Regent is not as merciful as I, and will be more inclined to grant you your demands, be they more severe than I, personally, might like."

"I will accept a trial in King's Landing, but I will not accept this veto of yours. Surely you trust your own justice system." The Sea Lord raised an eyebrow.

"Very well." she agreed begrudingly, relieved that she had been able to strike some sort of compromise with the Sealord--she was confident that once she had returned, there would be some available solution--worst case scenario being that Francis would have to mysteriously disappear.

"Are there any conditions for me, besides to cease hostilities?" The Sea Lord asked.

"It would be fitting for Westeros to have an embassy in Braavos." she replied, glancing around the table to judge whether any other members of their commitee had a suggestion.

The Sea Lord nodded, "That is fair."

Lord Barclay replied to the offer of suggestions, "I would include another bit that would ensure peace for more than the next couple years. A number of things could achieve this, most commonly a marriage."

"Agreed, I have a daughter about the King's age. I think that would be fitting." He replied.

Marei Swiftwaters smiles apologetically as she speaks for the first time. "I believe our king is already betrothed, milord. It is unfortunate, but I believe he has several unwed uncles."

Tristeza glanced between the Swiftwater girl and the Sealord--"Do you find this suggestion acceptable?" she asked.

"Surely the daughter of the Sea Lord merits better then the King's uncles. He has a younger brother does he not?" A small malicous smile touched the lips of the lithe man.
