Horas Blackwood's chambers are situated high in one of Raventree Hall's towers, close to the rookery. The main room is dominated by a large wooden desk, across which dozens of scrolls and opened books lay. Pressed against the walls are shelves stretching from floor to ceiling, stuffed full of books, poisons, poultices, and strange devices from the East. The air is claustrophobic and guests are rarely invited in.

Horas sits at his desk, eyes closed in thought. What a terrible time he had chosen to leave. So much had happened -- Aedon's bloody ascendency, the emergence of Callen Baratheon and Dondarrion's bid for power. And now his Lord Uncle had taken the bulk of Blackwood's forces to fight for the kinslaying King, leaving the riverlands unprotected. Unprotected and surrounded. The North declared for Baratheon, and the Vale could scarcely want to support Aedon after his dragon murdered Lord Breyn. The Greyjoys had declared for no one, so far as Horas knew, but when had the Ironmen ever missed a chance to reave and pillage when all eyes were turned the other way?
Horas rubs his temples absently, then pulls out a quill and several sheafs of parchment. He had to try to convince Terrence to bring their army back, where it could protect their own interests. Failing that, Horas would need to write to their allies in the riverlands, to hold them close and ready.
Horas begins writing letters.

OOC: Horas you need to get near the action! There's no one even near Raventree.

Some time passes before Horas decides he needs to send emmissaries, not letters, to their riverland allies. No foe had sent their armies to the riverlands yet, and Horas did not wish to make his house appear weak by sending pleas to their bannermen. Instead he would send men to observe, to reassure, to show the lords of the Trident how well they were valued under Blackwood rule, and how another war amongst themselves could devastate them all.
Certain houses would prove less loyal than the others, Horas knew. The Brackens, their ancestral enemies, would like nothing less than House Blackwood's utter destruction, and perhaps a few other houses would agree with them. But Blackwood was not without connections of its own. The heirs to Vance and Mallister are fast friends with Warren, so Horas sends other young nobles friendly with Warren to treat with their houses. To House Frey, Horas requests his own mother go, as she is blood related to the current Lord Frey. All the other major houses of the riverlands would soon recieve guests as well.
In order to weather the coming storm, the riverlands would have to stand united.
