Blunted swords were provided to each contestant. Each pair in turn fought in the shadow of the damaged Merry Maid. The four winners progressed to the next round.

First Fight between Ser Timm Dayne and Gustaff
Round 1: TD:178 G:72
In a remarkable quick battle easily dodges Gustaff's ineffective blow and smashes him in the face with a counter strike.
Gustaff falls teeth and blood raining from his mouth.

Second Fight: Urri Hastwyck and Ser Erik Tyrell.
Round 1: UH: 98 ET: 166
Erik Tyrell starts off strong with several quick attacks that send Urri stumbling back in an off balance defensive stance.
Round 2: UH: 144 ET:186
Erik does not relent and scores two slight blows to Urri's side.
Round 3: UH: 137 ET:184
Erik disarms Urri with a sharp blow to his hand, and Urri forfeits the match.

Third Fight: Ser Miles Robey and Ser Kennos Keath
Round 1: MR:92 KK: 178
Starting out decisively Kennos lands several harsh blows forcing Miles back across the fighting ground.
Round 2: MR:122 KK:102
Kennos laughs at the the other knight and begins to boast, when Miles slips past an errant strike of Keath and lands a glancing blow against his weak arm.
Round 3: MR:116 KK:138
Reddening Kennos regains control of the bout, and lands several hits to Miles' torso.
Round 4: MR:87 KK:160
The match ends as Kennos strikes Miles hard in the gut, and Miles retches, then forfeits.

Fourth Fight: Anselm Flowers and Dort of King's Landing
Round 1: AF:141 DKL:125
Neither seem to feel truly natural with the sword and circle the other constantly. After several light blows it seems as if Anselm has gained the upperhand.
Round 2: AF:42 DKL:99
Anselm starts to grin and slashes hard and heavy at Dort's head, the block and counter that Dort uses cause Anselm to drop his sword, reversing the tides quickly.
Round 3: AF: 142 DKL:62
Dort steps forward to knock Anselm out of the tourney, but the stubborn Flower will not wilt. Stepping side the other man's sword range, Anselm lands one solid punch on Dort's throat and he stumbles to the ground wheezing.
After a brief discussion the judges rule that Anselm was with in the rules to punch the man.

Fifth Fight: Ser Timm Dayne and and Ser Erik Tyrell
Round 1: TD:103 ET: 169
Timm moves out but missteps, Tyrell lunges forward and connects a glancing blow to Timm's head.
Round 2: TD:191 ET:168
Still dazed Timm blocks several attacks from Tyrell, pushing Erik into a neutral position.
Round 3: TD:118 ET:150
Erik seeing that Timm is still sluggish from his first hit, presses forward and strikes Timm on the thigh. Timm slides away limping slightly and wipes away heavy beads of sweat.
Round 4: TD:158 ET:100
Erik sensing weakness lunges in, but Timm was only feigning. Erik did not sense the trap until he heard the crack of the sword, and felt a crack of pain.
Round 5: TD:105 ET:152
Erik stumbles back knowing he has just lost. Timm steps forward and his injured leg gives out. He stumbles forward. Erik seeing Timm's misstep attacks immediately and he connects with Timm's head again. Timm falls down unconscious.
Ser Erik Tyrell defeats Ser Timm Dayne.

Sixth Fight: Ser Kennos Keath and Anselm Flowers
Round 1: KK:129 AF:143
Kennos and Anselm exchange many attacks and counters. After several long moments Anselm lands a minor blow to Kennos sword arm.
Round 2: KK:165 AF:93
Kennos smiles, he had lured Anselm into position. Bringing his sword in hard Kennos struck a major blow to Anselm's ribs, the brawler stumbled back breathing hard.
Round 3: KK:127 AF:100
Anselm pulls up a hasty defense as Kennos presses his advantage, and Keath ends up striking a minor blow to Anselm's sword arm.
Round 4: KK:97 AF:147
Anselm is reeling, and Kennos is hot for blood. Anselm pulls Kennos into almost the same trap Flowers had fallen for. Keath is staggered by a hard blow.
Round 5: KK:177 AF:97
Kennos is off balance when he sees two Anselms leaping forward. Shaking his head to clear it, Kennos slides to the right and swings almost blindly. Anselm walks right into the powerful desperate blow and crashes to the ground. The match is over.
Ser Kennos Keath defeats Anselm Flowers.

Final Fight: Ser Erik Tyrell and Ser Kennos Keath.
Round 1: ET:166 KK:101
Erik Tyrell leaps forward immediately after the match starts, his face blazing with anger. Kennos still seems sluggish after the last match and takes another hard strike to the head.
Round 2: ET:144 KK:111
Erik's sword swings in graceful arcs, and it is all Kennos can do to deflect the attacks. With each deflection Keath tries to attack, but Erik will not relent. Finally Keath takes a strike to his weak arm.
Round 3: ET:173 KK:106
Wincing back Keath knows he is losing this match, so he puts all his strength into a desperate counter attack. Erik sees the attack coming and expertly avoids it. As Kennos stumbles from his exertion Erik connects with his final attack, Keath is knocked out from the powerful strike.
Erik Tyrell wins the Swords Contest.
