The Kingsroad runs north from King's Landing through the Riverlands, east of Harrenhal but through Lord Harroway's Town before it crosses the Trident. It parallels the Green Fork for many miles before it passes through the Neck.

"I did not expect to find you here, I thought you'd both be in the Vale. We were bringing him -- he's with the nurse in one of the wayns."
"What is wrong that you've returned?" Rhodri asks.

"Plenty," Aranya said grimly. "This man here," she yanked on a rope to bring another horse forward. A shackled and gagged black brother slumped in that horse's saddle, his eyes dull. "This is Hammen, one of the turncloaks under Sands. We got some disturbing information out of him. Lance Sands has plans to destroy the bridges of the riverlands and ride to Greywater Watch, while he has plans to band together the clansmen of the Vale and...well, it's a lot of news. Selwyn will tell you." She handed the rope to Selwyn and galloped to the back of the train of wayns. Nurse Walda saw Aranya and hailed her, and Aranya pulled Brynden into her saddle and hugged him. He whacked her head with his wooden sword.

Rhodri and Selwyn share their news, and Rhodri takes the prisoner. The small army starts to turn direction, to return to fortify King's Landing. Ser Corvis the Rook, one of Galwyn's top scouts, rides north on towards the Twins to deliver the news to the King.

Aranya and Selwyn continue to the Vale with their soldiers. Aranya carried Brynden in her arms, ignoring the pain from her wounds.

Rhodri mostly rides alone, his bannermen sensing his need for isolation. However, he will make time to see Lord Warren since they will be parting paths shortly.
