Hullo - this is 1 more post towards the goal!
And yes, get into the whole "god" thing - I always instinctively steered clear of it and didn't use/abuse it to it's full extent. How do you think Piers manages to stay so well informed?
And, as a parting present, here are some "big" ideas. Feel free to disregard, chop & change and adapt as you see fit.
The Others - I think some kind of wight attack (more than say, actual Others) would be kewl. Not sure how to involve PC characters into it though unless we have/make them send a northern expedition (maybe Prince Andry or someone important enough to rescue) is lost up there after his ship is blown north in a hurricane and wrecked on the frozen shore and he staggers to a wildling village, cut off by snow, and sends a raven south/to the Wall requesting aid. Hell, it doesn't need to make that much sense!
Cannibal Holocaust!
The cannibal island discovered by Callen's fleet decides to return the favour and "raids" Dorne/the Far Reach. This is really just an oddity as I doubt there would be much more than 1,000 or so total but it's an idea and with some gruesome examples it might be interesting spectacle.
Plague!
Drastic but if we're playing medieval europe circa 12th Century then were is the Black Death? This would be a nasty one as Lillith & her healers are good but they aren't THAT good and besides, can't be everywhere. You could have this as a trading ship is found with her whole crew dead and it's passed on that way into KL before it spreads. This would be a nasty one though so maybe it's too severe.
Mercenaries
Perhaps the Small Council is asked to provide assistance by a nearby city across the Narrow Sea to fend off a Dothraki attack. Handsome pay and a fight against the horselords. This may be a small-scale thing which could be palmed off as a mission for a few PCs
Religious Fervour
The High Septon forms the militant orders of the Faith and begins agitating against the 'heathen' gods of the ironborn & the north. Some shops & warehouses are burnt and then a septon is torched in a reprisal as the tension begins to crank up
More religiousity
Several foreign churchs take advantage of the peace between Westeros & the Free Cities and open up their churchs in KL and other cities. They begin sending missonaries preaching the value of their god over that of the Seven etc. Candidates included, R'hllor churchs - Mother Rhonye - especially in Dorne - and the Braavosi one - Moonsingers wasn't it?
As a result the High Septon petitions the Regency to have the other faiths outlawed and driven from Westeros. If this doesn't happen, a few foreign missionaries may begin to start being murdered...
Famine!
Due to the recent conflict in the Reach and the damage wrought by the Starfall the harvest in those areas are massively down on normal amounts. Desperation and hunger strike as people begin to run out of food, possibly being forced to turn to other, less wholesome substitutes
A long lost heir
Someone thought dead or missing for years returns to claim his inheritance.
Basically pick a House and cause some trouble by having this happen - either he's a pretender who just happens to look like the candidate and is pulling a fast one or it is the real deal.
I doubt we could do this to the Reach but somewhere like the North, the Stormlands or the Vale especially is a possibility.
Rumour
Just have an enticing rumour be posted - New Starfall rumoured to have happened in the Stepstones, Dragons sighted near Ghis etc - and see if anyone bites.
That's a starting point anyway
