Aaron informs some of his men that he will be retiring to his solar for a few moments of candid discussion with Lord Tallahar, but will return shortly. He then leads Tallahar back to his solar.

Callen bows back. "The honour is mine Lord Fossoway, your exploits at Moat Cailen are well known to me. Lord Barret chose a most able man to help guide my nephew to lordship. It's a pity that such a man was lost. My sister is most devastated."

OOC: Barret's will legitimized his bastard child by Olivia Caswell as the heirs to the Reach. Callen's nephew is now the heir to the Highgarden, while Lyonen Tyrell is the 3 year old Lord.

OOC: I know, Callen would still assume that Aaron would help raise Craych
IC: "She expressed her wish to join me in King's Landing, even if it's only for a few months. She's already headed back with a selection of my personal guard." Callen shook his head. "I can imagine her loss, I've experienced it once before."
At a nearby table a hooded figure looked over ever so slightly.

OOC: Gotcha. A hooded man? I don't think the house guards would let in someone who is hidden in shadows. EDIT: Unless you're just with-holding his name for added-suspense.

Tallahar takes the time to speak, "Your Grace what do you think of Highgarden is this not your first visit."

OOC: Suspense, and the person would have contacts in Highgarden that would let him in the feast. Let's just say he isn't a stranger.

Callen shook his head. "No, I have been here twice before. It's beauty far surpasses any other. Though all castles are beautiful in their own way."

Fossoway nodded, as the King spoke. "Your Grace, I most humbly wish present something to you." As he said this the nobles around him turned to look at the pair. The hall quieted down a bit.

Callen did not betray any surprise, but smiled and withdrew something from his cloak. "And I you." It was a jewled dagger and a scroll. "I humbly beseatch you to take this as a symbol of your new position. As one of your first acts I ask you to choose among your greatest warriors, who will take his place on the Kingsguard."

The Regent Aaron Fossoway politely turned down the King's offer, and backing up to stand beside a number of Reach lords he gently unraveled a scroll from his robe and began to read aloud. His voice as he orates is both deep and resonating in the large hall. Every other conversation seems to end.
Lord Fossoway speaks, "The following is the last decree of the Lord Barret Tyrell in the lands of the Reach, and directed towards King Callen Baratheon, the first of his name."
"To avoid unnecessary wars in foreign seas and lands, To avoid the formation of a Westerosi Army, which in itself throws the balance of the realm, To avoid centuries of inter-kingdom warring To avoid interference in the self-governing of the Reach To avoid the unnecessary loss of more Reachmen in decades to come For the general safety and wellbeing of the Reach, which by itself is its own power and entity And lastly, to restore the Gardner throne in the name of House Tyrell, the castles, lands, and men of the Reach secede into their own being: to protect their own harvest, their own women and children, and their own lives.
This is to be done without the involvement of swords, and with the fullest intentions of remaining friendly and peaceful. King Callen Baratheon is kith and kin to the Reach, and he and his subjects must not be harmed.
Lord Barret Tyrell, and those present Lords witness to his decree,
Lord Floren Hewett, Lord James Chester, Lord Ollivan Caswell, Lord Peyton Redwyne, Lord Robert Hightower, Lord Earl Crane, Lord Brien Fossoway, Lord Jacob Kidwell, Lord Aaron Fossoway, Lord Alphonse Florent, Lord Osgrey and signed after the fact by Lord Tallahar Tyrell"
A resounding applause is heard before the Regent can fully finish the list of nobles. The great hall seems more full than it once was.
