Three hundred knights in a mix of Reach and Baratheon colours rode into the shanty camp set up by the refugees being driven north by Lord Jarrad Varner. The lead knight, a man in white armour dismounts and speaks to the inhabitants for a while. With great difficulty and pain he is helped back onto his horse, and then rides a little ways south in the direction that the refugees pointed him.
They found Jarrad Varner sitting outside his tent, eating a roast quail. Again the lead knight dismounts with two other men, while the other men surround the camp. The white knight removes his helmet to reveal the face of Anslem Flowers. "Lord Jarrad Varner, due to crimes against the smallfolk, including unnecessary cruelty, robbery, and murder, an issue for your arrest has been made. You are to be returned to Highgarden, where your liege lord, Barret Tyrell will decide your fate."

OOC: So you want me to hold the trial?

OOC: Since it was my scenario I suppose I should NPC Lord Varner.
Lord Varner dropped his quail to the ground, where it was immediately snatched up by a hungry camp dog. Jarrd is standing, a look of outrage on his face.
"How dare you, this is Varner land, and I rule here. Plagues of thieving locusts strip my land bare and steal the food from my and my people's table, and they send a bastard to arrest me? Piss on you. If my Lord questions my decision, Let him come and say so, and I'll bend the knee, but I don't take orders from the likes of you. " A small host of about forty armed men in Varner colors take their place beside their lord, grim looks on their faces. They know they'd lose a fight, but they seem willing to press the issue if they must.

OOC: Yes, it would be like the first chapter in AGoT when Eddard tries and executes that deserter.
Anslem brissled. "Do you know who I am monster? I am Ser Anslem Flowers, member of the Kingsguard, sworn to uphold Callen Baratheon and his will. And argue as you will, it is Baratheon law that holds sway in Westeros. If you had trouble feeding those fleeing from the destruction of the fallen stars you should have requested help from your liege lord. The Reach has more than enough food. If you don't surrender peacefully I will sieze you by force."

"Kingsguard or no, this is my land. My father ruled at Stoatheart before me, and his father before him and so on since long before the Baratheons sat on the Iron Throne. I recognize his Grace's rule, but fealty goes both ways Ser, a fact you would be well to remember." Lord Varner jerks his hand in the direction of the stone keep just a few hundred yards away.
"The good king himself punishes those who poach on his lands does he not? This is no different."

Anslem snorted. "Yes, with a fine for each slayen deer. He does not send them on a death march. Regardless, I am done reasoning." Anslem held up a hand, and immediately all three hundred swords were drawn. He then pointed it at Lord Varner. "Men, seize him. I urge you not to resist Lord Varner, for the your sake as well as your men's." He looked into the eyes of the nearest man at arms to Lord Varner. "Are you willing to give your life for this man?"

Ser Broderick, Jarrad's best friend from childhood snarled an affirmative, reaching for his sword, and the rest of the Varner men prepared to do likewise, but Jarrad stopped it with a raise of his hand.
"They've the better of us," Jarrad gritted his teeth. "I submit for their sake Ser Flowers," The Lord nearly spit the words out at the white garbed knight. "Our good Lord Tyrell knows of the rights of his Bannermen, even if you do not. He will grant us justice when we reach Highgarden."

Anslem nodded, and then the two men at his side rushed forward. They disarmed the lord and bound his hands. They did allow him his horse, and then led him towards Highgarden. When they passed through the shanty camp the smallfolk glared at Lord Varner. Men and women started cheering and shouting. "Justice! All hail Ser Anslem the Gallant!"

When Ser Anslem was well out of line of sight, Ser Brodrick and the other Varner men at arms fell upon the remaining refugees, kicking and beating them for their insolence, although none were killed.
OOC: continue on Highgarden thread i presume.
