Lord Commander Mudd and about 1,000 Night's Watch hide in the Wolfswood. They are spread out into many camps, but they keep in regular contact. Occasionally the make raids into the occupied Northern Territory.

Hodrick smashed the hilt of his sword through the ice of a river, while it may have been spring the south, winter was not so fast to relinquish her grip on the icy north. He dipped a pothelm into the running water and walked back to camp. When he got back he put it over the fire and threw in some salt beef. When he noticed it was the last of it he cursed under his breath, "Bastards have all the castles along the wall, and we hold a bloody forest." When it was ready he took a sip and then looked around, with Lord Commander Mudd not experienced in war, and with Bracken in the south Hodrick essentially acting First Ranger, if only in command, and not name.

Ser Doyle Swann had quickly fallen in with Hodrick Royce, recongnizing that he was one of few men of talent amongst the refugee brothers.

Hodrick laid a map on the small crate that served as a table in Lord Mudd's tent. "The Rangers have reported seeing deserter camps here, here and here." He pointed to three spots on the map, "These camps have only rudimentary defenses, however the largest, this one here, is reasonably well fortified." He made two sweeping gestures with his hand. "If we attack these two camps simultaneously we can draw off forces from the main camp."

"Do we have the strength to commit to two separate attacks?" Ser Doyle wonders.

OOC: Sorry to interrupt, but Callen - I think in your last post you meant "Hodrick laid a map on the small crate" not "Callen laid a map.."?

OOC: Uhhhhh, no Callen just ran up North super fast and is helping the resistence movement in secret......
IC: Hodrick shook his head in disgust, "Aye, it will be risky, but aye we have enough, barely enough."

Lord Mudd walked over, chewing at the inside of his lip. Seeing Hodrick and Doyle together, he asks, "What are you two plotting?"

Hodrick glanced over, he could not fault the man on his ability to organized a camp, but he did not have much experience in military matters. "An attack on three deserter camps, we're debating whether or not to split our forces, two smaller ones to attack the small camps and try to draw out forces from the big camp, and the larger one to attack it once it's empty. How many men do we have left?"

Mudd looked down, "About one thousand men, with the other fifteen hundred on the Deepwood raid. Why are those camps so lightly guarded. Do you think it is a trap?"

Hodrick shrugged, "Possibly, but I don't think so. The Commander there is Davos Snow, not much of a ranger if I remember. It doesn't even look like an assault or defense force, last we checked they were just guarding some supplies. Supplies that we're running out of, they've got some herbs and medicines that we need, quite a bit of feed for the horses, and enough salt beef to sink a ship. Besides, Wull has had us on the run for weeks now, it's time we show him that we don't tolerate desertion."

"It is possible, and we do need the supplies. How many men should we use."

"Two hundred on each of the smaller camps, the rest on the large one, once the forces in the main camp are drawn out, the smaller forces are to retreat, and rendevous at the larger camp for an assault on it."
