Dragging the aged septon out to the God's Wood on a cane was not any easy task, but Piers managed it. Then he stood, with Xavier by his side wating on Lilith and Petra.

Fifteen minutes later Lilith and Petra arrived in the dappled sunshine of the Godswood. They had rapidly changed into dresses Piers had sent them and had hastily brushed their hair. Petra's ribbon seemed not to want to stay in place and was sliding off her shiny hair.
All the members of the band were standing in the woods with them. Xavier winked at Petra from his position next to Piers. "Somebody needs to stand up with your father today," he told Petra

Aeron had changed into his best robes, meaning they were still stained with water and dirt and travel, but at least they were not ripped. He smiled at Lilith, she and Elane were possibly the only healers in the camp better than him, and he looked on her as his mentor. He grinned at Petra and gave her a reassuring smile as she gave a nervous look.

The Septon's voice was remarkably strong for such a decrepit body and the words of the ancient and traditional wedding ceremony flowed over crowd.
Lilith watched as the light dappled Piers's face, now light, now dark, and took the words in as if they were a breeze on her face, feeling but not parsing them. She had stood before a septon before and heard the same words but today they felt very different. As rushed as the ceremony was, it felt like a new beginning. She felt the old gods watching and approving, and the Seven adding their assent.
The Septon began to ask the Seven questions each had to answer. Piers hesitated a moment before answering the first, betraying his fears once again and questioning her one final time if this was what she really wanted. She looked deep into his eyes with all the love she felt and squeezed his hand gently, and he smiled and began to answer in a loud clear voice.
She, in her turn, started quietly but by the end of the questions, she too was proclaiming her love, loyalty and devotion in tones that echoed through the woods.
The kiss they shared at the end of the ceremony was chaste, especially for them, but set Lilith's toes tingling. Piers laughed and leered at her ever so slightly. He too felt the constrictions of the watching world.
A cheer went up from the crowd, from her band, from the Fair 17, from various and sundry Starks and other of last night's guests who had not yet left, even from the damn messenger who bore the tidings of woe that had forced their hands.
Piers lifted Petra in his arms. "Poppet, you are now the Honorable Petra Bettley, wave to the world like the queen you are."
She laughed at his silliness and waved to the assembled masses.
The rest of the time passed in a blur, and what felt like moments later, Lilith and Piers stood before one another saying goodbye once again.
"Never have I been happier," she whispered, "And never has my longing for you been so frustrated."

Aeron found Lilith and Piers together. Although he did not want to interrupt their being together he felt he should congratulate them. He touched Lilith on her shoulder and when she turned he pulled her into a tight embrace, not as lovers do, but more along the lines of a brother and sister. He whispered in her ear, "congratulation Lil, you deserve this more than anyone after all you've given to everyone."

Lilith laughed and hugged Aeron back. "I'm so glad you could be here with us, m'dear, a bit of joy heals much."
Piers momentarily glares at the interruption and then laughs as well. "Take good care of my women, Aeron" he said, and then grimaced, "For you will probably be seeing more of them in the next few weeks than I do."

Aeron gave a look of mock hurt. "I'm just a poor maester my good knight, Lil has probably killed more men than I have." Then his face grew serious, "but trust me I'll do all that I can, even if I'm more adept at healing than fighting." His tone grew lighter again, but it was now tight and tense, "we Ironborn do have the innate killer instinct."

Looking at the Maester, "Aye they do. Except Killer instinct, I would call it more like a pure and furious rage directed outward at the whole world for thinking that we are as dumb as the rocks we cling to life on. I think that is a more apt description." Piers laughed warmly taking any sting out of the insult.
Xavier Hill shook his head at his insane brother. The happiness in the little family in front of him, made him think of a woman sized hole in his heart. Hill's gaze turned south.

Lady Elena Plumm walked over to Lilith and hugged her tightly, "Piers has always treated me like a little sister. So I hope you will think of me the same. Welcome to our family Lilith. When you come to Casterly Rock we are going to have such a party." She stepped aside to say something to Piers.
Lord Jayson Plumm stepped up to Lilith and bowed politely, saying "I wish you luck. And as much joy as I have found in my marriage." He quickly followed Elena over to Piers
Lord Danforth Yew stepped up to Lilith Royce, "Milady I am honored to have been invited to your special day. It was simple but it had the beauty of a summer day. Around the fifth promise I almost cried. After the sixth I did. But only a little. For some reason the seventh promise made me stop crying, and feel hungry. I honestly don't know why. Is there any food?" Lord Yew looked around the grounds and not seeing any tables he continued, "I have not been to a wedding so wonderful since my last wedding. Bathilda was so pretty that day, I miss her." He shook his head sadly, then catching Lilith's eye he gave her a sly look, "I have heard a kinswoman of yours has expressed interest in marrying me, could you perhaps introduce me to her?" Yew finishes up giving his fingers a little waggle, and raising his eyes brows twice.

Lilith hugged Elena very warmly in return, "You have felt like a sister since Casterly Rock, I am delighted to have our connections made slightly more formal." She grinned, "You make an excellent Good Sister given the badness of your 'brother.'"
A cloud passed over Lilith's face. "I fear that our menfolk will be leaving us once again. The Band..." she had been about to call it the widow's band, but of course, she was a widow no more, but a wife, "must travel more slowly, but we will also travel south. I am sure there is much work to be done in these times of chaos. Would you join us?"
Elena's handsome husband joined them before Elena could answer but Lilith could see her thinking about the invitation. Lilith accepted Ser Plumm's congratulations warmly. "I too wish for the happiness you share, your marriage is a model for us all."
Lilith could barely keep a straight face when Yew joined them. "I have heard some tongues connect your name with one of my kinswomen, m'lord, but be warned we are a blood thirsty bunch."

Lord Stark, to Lilith's pleasure, invited all the guests to a small meal in Winterfell's Great Hall. He apologized for the simpleness of the fare to be served but Lilith assured him that anything was more than welcome after this slightly ramshackle ceremony.

Ser Humfrey stabbed at the face on the tree. Such a strange thing, these carved faces. Old Gods of the North had been trapped in the trees, or something of that nature.
He removed his armor, and begin practicing, swinging his lance around, knocking branches from trees, but avoiding the face engraved tree.
