"I see the change," Elane's eyes lingered on her aunt's face, weatherbeaten instead of porcelain perfect as it once was, but calmer and reflective of a sharper mind than before as well. There was a sense of purpose to her. "Breyn would most astonished if he could see you now. You haven't met him since the war."

Lord Piers Bettley enters the the feast, he is shepherded by Lady Elena Plumm. Elena and Piers are deep in a hushed conversation. At the entrance they both paused searching the crowd for their loved ones. Both smiled when spotting their prey. Elena and Piers exchanged a significant look before they broke. Elena hurried over to Jayson Plumm and hugged him close.
Lord Piers Bettley limped over and sat down at Lilith and Elane's table. Sitting down he started gather samples of all the different food laid out. As he finished stockpiling his plate he turned and Looked at Lilith, and asked, "Would you hand me the salt bowl?"

Lilith absent mindedly reaches for the salt and then almost drops it as she sees who it is. Her "Hullo, love," comes out somewhere between a croak and a whisper.

"Hello." Taking the salt he ladles it liberally over his food, "I recieved your last letter. And then Elena beat me about the head with it until I agreed to come and visit you and Petra." He forces a warm smile on his face.
"Have you been well?" Piers asked as he takes a bite from the lamb.

Lilith laughed at the description of Elena's threats. "Elena is one of Petra's greatest supporters, and as ever I am greatful for it."
"I am well, thank you," she responded to his question, and searched his face. She could sense, rather than see, tension in it and knew the reason.
"Petra is probably still awake. Shall I send her a note telling her we shall be coming to say goodnight?" Lilith had been going to offer to wait till morning but thought better of it. The quicker Piers and Petra met, the happier all would be. Or at least she hoped so.

Piers eyes trailed to the door, and he squinted at it. Then Elena moved into his view and she frowned. Piers turned back to Lilith, "Of course, I am excited." He did not seem excited. He stood smiling down at her.

Elane smiles at Piers and winks at Elena, but shifts slightly away, to give her aunt and Ser Piers their privacy.

Piers had the look of a man before battle, smiling in the face of death. The sooner this was over with the better. Lilith took her leave of Elane and the other ladies of the table, blew a kiss to Elena, and took Piers out the door.
The night was starry and clear. A cool breeze was blowing, whipping Lilith's skirts about her ankles. She held tight to his hand as they walked to the campsite just outside of Winterfell's grounds.
"Thank you for coming," she said, hoping all his fears were groundless.
