Ser Jaremy and Company have passed through beneath the Gates of the Moon and turned north, bond for Tedmyn's Down. After a day the path narrows to little more than a track winding through the mountains of the Vale. The wilderness seems to be reclaiming it.
Ser Jaremy pauses and lets the column pass until the young Royces are passing. He pulls his horse forward in step with Laren. "So, young man, what think you of the rougher parts of the Vale?"

Suddenly, after asking the question, Jaremy tensed up and stared off up the road. "What's this now, he growled."
Ahead on the road was a single horseman staring down at them. He was astride a shaggy looking pony that looked hungry. "Boys! To arms!" Jaremy ripped his sword from its scabbard, and looked around. Behind them four Clansmen with spears had appeared on the road. To their left was a rocky cliff, and to the right forested wilderness. There was a stirring in the woods preceeded by an angry shout. "Here they come!"
<A wildling attack begins, please write up scenarios for your actions in the first part of the ambush. The party consists of the three of your characters, Edd Tollett, Ser Jaremy, Ser Uller, the as yet unnamed sellsword, and nine other teenaged boys. Feel free to use them as you like in your scenarios.>

<After Laren & Brandon's scenarios>
The party was hardpressed, four of the young boys were dead, Symond the Sellword has also just taken a grevious wound. The party is pressed up against a cliff and surrounded by Clansmen numbering 26. The Clansmen pressed close and exhaustion troubles at the arms and legs of Ser Jaremy's party. Then as the fight turned most bleak, a thundering of hooves is heard from the north, and a party of Vale knights charges down the road directly into the flank of the Clannish.
<Post next scenarios-- Lord Odhar has arrived>

Laren sat a little aside from the others watching the scene before him. Most of their original party were wounded. Some worse the others. He himself had a deep cut on his upper left arm, but he had told Baelor that it was nothing and that he should tend to others who were in more need of it first. And that he did.
Ser Jaremey was speaking to the new Lord of Runestone. His party had saved them in the last second. He wondered if it was worth to continue to the down, because if its master was on his way to Runestone they shouldn't be in much danger if he deemed it save to leave. But on the other hand the dead Clansmen lying around were enough evidence for the Clans rising in the Vale.

Brandon had had enough of staring into the fire, and approached Laren. "How are you holding up?"

"Ah, I'm fine. The cut looks worse then it is. Must have been one of their sharper swords. Do you also find that they were looking extremly shabby and thin?"

"It's winter, they're most likely hungry. I doubt they have that much provision stored. They would have likely killed us and taken the horses for meat. Though the most hungry ones would even take our bodies perhaps, that leaves for a droll sight. Guarding merchant is so much easier," Brandon sighed.

Laren shook his head "Still, I think it is strange that they attacked us with such a great number. Hadn't Lord Odhar arrived just in time we would all most likely be dead. I wonder what was behind this attack and the other attacks throughout the mountains haven't be solely for food and provisions as well."

"Maybe Lord Odhar would know. He's our father's cousin, is he not?" Brandon asked as he stood up looking towards the Lord of Runestone.

"Yes, he is. But I'm not sure if he knew him well. Non the less we should find out what is going to happen next."

OOC: this is well in the past
Brandon thinking that the meeting was rather to important for a little known bastard, decides to speak to a man with a red fort on his arms instead. They speak of matters both interesting and dull, though the conversation gets another tone once they talk about Norvos.
