A moving camp for the Black Widow and her Riding Dead and wildling followers. It is sometimes but not always to be found in the Vale. The accommodations are rough and built with moveability in mind but with certain touches of luxury including thick carpets in many of the tents. The Black Widow's band responds in times of crisis in Westeros, to floods, fires and the aftermath of war. They have also been known to act as a raiding band upon occasion. While their mercy is great, so is their wrath at injustice.

After a painful but manageable labor, the Black Widow gave birth to a beautiful dark-haired, blue-eyed girl child. She was attended by her kinswoman Elane Royce.
Elane graciously accepted the Widow's request to be the child's Good Mother. The Widow was relieved that her beloved friend would watch out for the child in case of need.

OOC: Didn't see this thread.
IC: Elane was thrilled to have a goddaughter. She constantly sent the child presents, and while the Black Widow was recuperating, had her own nurses from the Moon Maid's Shelters attend the girl as if she were a princess. And, to Elane, she was.

Five rouges from King's Landing eventually find the camp and present Lilith a letter.
Honeyed Lamb-chops,
These are some of my squires. I know what you are thinking not one of these men is noble born, or has ever bathed. But for some reason other nobles will not send me their sons to train. I tell you once you get a reputation for losing a squire in a card game and no longer does anyone trust you.
These men are as loyal as any saved from the headsman's axe can be. All have served in different capacities for me over the years, now they serve you and little Petra. Obviously you command, cause these are the type of men to take a baby's gurgle as a command to go have some drinks. Each brings a gift.
Haeger is an Iron born man. He used to be a Maester of the Citadel. Unfortunately he was caught embezzling from Lord Ashford. Yet in his mind he still carries all the knowledge of his teachings. He gifts a book, "History of Westeros, the first thousand years."
Davion is from the reach and earned his living there as swindler and charlatan. I think you will enjoy his company. The man always knows precisely what to say to anyone, so beware he will try and talk your small clothes off. He gifts a small silver necklace ornamented with a jet spider and sapphire beetle.
Lyrrian is from across the narrow sea, but there may not be any one in Westeros with his skill in archery. He was caught as a poacher in the King's Wood and is the most loyal of the men. He gifts a yew bow sized for a girl.
Steffen was born here in the Landing. And lived the first thirty years of his life as a most skilled thief. Until his wife turned him in to the Gold Cloaks for cheating on her with her sister. He gifts a set of locksmith's tools.
Finally there is Kurt, who is the best knife fighter in my squires, who I would trust associating with my daughter anyway. All the men I sent you have had experience with children, I am roguish but not mad. Kurt's gift is a twin to your dagger my dumpling.
These men will not betray you, they know their families are protected by me as long as they serve you faithfully. Will they be easy men to rule all the time, of course not. But you tamed me.
Ever-hungry Lord Piers Bettley
p.s. Verrina and Polly wanted to send their regards, and thanks for teaching me that new move.

A letter eventually finds it way back to the camp.
My candied apple,
Well I am glad my gifts are coming in handy. So pleased I think I will a special talk with 'Davion' when he returns. You can't see it, but I am stroking my dagger menacingly.
I know first hand that the widows and orphans of the Rock are being cared for. Yet for those poor souls any help is good help, so bravo.
I am glad this trip has been soothing your soul. I still eagerly await your return. It is ever so dull with out your wit to spice things up.
In reply to your question I had a near brush with Death. Well I should not have tempted fate in the manner I did. I misjudge the situation and fell from my horse. I may limp now, but kids have been known to die well from such falls.
In other news I have had thirteen wedding proposals in your absence. I swear that every lord is dragging up their most homely or cow-like daughter in an effort to marry her to a Lannisport Lord. I can not find any half way acceptable wife to start a family with.
Maybe when you return you can find me a woman who the very idea of marrying would not be some kind of bad joke. You are very resourceful and know me quite well, so I think you could find me a good match.
Well I am off to Casterly Rock soon. There is to be quite the tournament there. I am somewhat looking forward to it.
Sincerely Piers
p.s. I have decried in my will that if I were to die that Petra Elana Rollins-Stone is my heir. Send my love to her.

After three days of hard riding, Lilith arrives home dizzy from the journey and sore from the saddle.
Her heart lifted, though, when Petra ran to join her with a cry of "Mama, mama, you're home. I killed four rabbits and helped shoot a deer." She very definitely had Piers's verve and bloodthirsty streak.
It was nice to be home.

Lady Elena Plumm rides into the camp of the Black Widow. She is followed by twenty arms-men. These arms-men have only two things in common, they are young and pretty.
When Elena sees Lilith she dismounts with a smile on her face. Walking forward with her hands outstretched she says, "I have come to see you and Petra. When I heard Piers was sending you men I insisted on coming. I hope you don't mind." She smiles warmly at the Outlaw Queen.

Lilith laughed at the male pulchritude marching in behind Elana. Eeegads what had her sense of humor gotten her into. They were lovely indeed and all made feel rather old.
It was lovely to see Elana again. Marriage suited her, she looked happy. She hugged her hullo. "How very glad I am you've come. Petra will be delighted to meet you."
She sent one of the men in the camp to fetch her daughter, whispering to him to find her and to make sure a hairbrush had come somewhere near her hair.
About fifteen minutes later, a moderately cleaned up Petra appeared. She made a surprisingly good curtsey to Lady Elana. She was obviously impressed by her. Not a lot of fine ladies in the camp.
Lilith did the introductions.
"Lady Elana Plumm, my daughter Petra."
"Petra, Lady Elana is a good friend of brave Ser Beetle."

Kneeling down to Petra's eye level Elena smiled warmly, "You look so pretty. I have brought you a gift." She swings her rucksack around and pulls four books out. "These books were given to me by", she glances up at Lilith and giggles, "Ser Beetle. This one is about Nymeria the warrior queen and how she conquered Dorne. This one is about Gwendellion Bow Maiden, she is a legendary hero of the first men." She holds up each book as she talks he smile never wavers, "These last two are a little hardier, you will have to work really hard to learn to read them. This is 'The Rules of Hand' its about being political. And this last one was my favorite and is the hardest to understand. It is called 'Tussani's Book of Tactics and War'. It teaches you how and when to fight."
Elena takes Petra's hands, "I want to give you these, but I need you to make a promise. You must promise me to read them all completely otherwise I will keep them for myself." Stop frowning I didn't bring you only books, "I also have this," from under the books she pulled a exquisitely crafted tin sword with blue beetles engraved up and down the blade, "But you can only have this if you promise to read the books."

Petra was obviously mesmerized by the sword, her eyes drank in the blade with its beetles and beautifully crafted hilt. Lilith could see her hand open and close as if she were trying its weight out.
At some point, however, Elana's words seemed to register with her. The sword came with the books, and the books needed to be read.
"Haeger is teaching me to read," she said, "And he says I'm very good with my letters but that I still need practice on putting the letters together into words." She took the book on Nymeria from Elana and carefully opened it. Haegar had obviously impressed upon her the need to be gentle with books. A cloud passed over her face as she looked at the book, lips moving as she obviously tried to read.
Then she brightened. "Can I have Momma and Haeger read these books with me? They are much better at reading than I am. I think Nymeria and the Bow Maiden would make wonderful stories for bed time." She hesitated for a moment, "and the Hand book and Tessusssanni."
She then remembered her manners. "Please thank Ser Beetle for me, I love my presents, 'specially the sword." And then she grinned a lovely grin, remarkably reminiscent of Piers, "And thank you for bringing them to me."

Elena face warmed up as she looked at the little girl, "You are welcome, I have more for you, but from what Ser Beetle tells me you will not like it. I have a pack horse designated as the Silken horse. And all he has carried from Casterly Rock is a Trunk full of silk dresses. Just for you." She laughed at the little tomboys face, "I know ewww. But eventually I think you will learn somethings must be endured for those we love." She boinks her finger against Petra's nose and makes a silly face.
Standing Elena looks at Lilith, "I heard she wouldn't like them, but I some how felt the need to bring impractical silks. There is another trunk with some garments I believe will fit you. Piers says you will want to dress to impress the guardsmen. Whatever that means." She flashed a crooked smile at Lilith.

Lilith grinned warmly at Elena. "It means we are teasing each other no end, as we usually do."
She turned to Petra. "There is a time in every lady's life that she learns to dress up, and I think tonight should be that night for you. In honor of Lady Elena's visit, we will have a formal dinner tonight and you can practice being polite and walking in skirts."
Petra looked ready to mutiny when Lilith quieted her with, "There is more than one way to fight a war, and one way involves wearing dresses. Since Lady Elena is here and is very good at wearing dresses, why don't we let her help us choose what we wear tonight?"
Elana smiled at her, "I think that a dress in beetle blue would be very pretty on you. You could match the beetle's on the sword."
Petra grinned at this.
Lilith left them together to plan her impromptu feast, and then joined them later in the large guest tent that Elena had been assigned. Many of the dresses for Petra were a little large, but nothing that a few stitches in the right place couldn't fix and then selected a lovely dark silk dress for herself. There was something almost sensual about the feel of the silk next to her skin.
She smiled to herself as she left the tent and could feel the approving eyes of at least a few of the pretty young men Piers had sent.

Elena looks at the spread of food, and smiles "That venison looks delicious. We hardly ever have venison at the Rock. How exciting." Elena admires Lilith, "That dress looks wonderful on you. And I can see I am not alone in that thought." She fires a dark look at one of men ogling Lilith. "Where do we begin?"
