The Healers' Tent

[Horas]

Warren is quiet for a moment.

"Is the boy here?"

"Yes. Do you wish to see him?"

[Horas]

"Aye," Warren replies. "Know this, Tallahar. I am no knight myself, so I cannot knight your boy. But I need a squire, and I can teach him honor and the skills a man needs for war. If the boy seems likely enough, I'll take him."

[melon]

"Very well. I was hoping that the High Speton would Knight him anyway so that solves the problem. Your a Warrior and Lord so it doesn't matter to me what gods you follow."

William comes walking, "You told Jeyne you wanted to see me daddy."

"Yes I did Will. This man is Lord Warren Blackwood."

"Hello M'Lord." The boy bows before him.

[Horas]

Warren squats in front of the boy so that they are eye to eye.

"Hello, William," he says solemnly. "Your father wants you to be my squire. If I take you, I will expect you to tend to your duties with care and skill, follow my commands, and show the respect expected of your station. Can you do that?"

[melon]

"Ahhh Yes M'Lord." William looks at the Lord.

[melon]

[Horas]

Warren smiles. "Good," he says, and offers his hand for the boy to shake. Then he straightens up and prepares to leave the tent, gesturing for William to follow him.

Before he goes, he turns back to Tallahar. "I'm sorry for your wounds," Warren says, "Do the maesters say you will be able to fight again?"

[melon]

"Yes I will live and I will be able to wield a Sword in time. William will depart with you. Is that OK Warren."

[Horas]

"Aye," Warren says, and leaves.

[melon]

Tallahar sits back and looks to his wife, "So Haley the both is to learn at Raventree Hill."

[Ellinda]

"Our boy is to learn at Raventree Hill?" asks Haley.

[melon]

"Yes. I have asked Lord Warren and he was accepted William as a squire. As I can no longer show Will the finer points of being a Knight it must fall to someone else."

[Ellinda]

Haley kissed Tallahar's forehead. "You are wise, m'dear. As much as I will miss my beloved son, I think William will learn much from Lord Blackwood."

She paused. "Why did you choose Lord Blackwood of all the men around?"

"He is a Lord and a Knight so he can show William what it means to be both. Plus if he grows with Warren's children and the other Blackwoods it will strength our binds to them. Also who else was there to choose from. Should I of had him squire with Randal."
