The horses are brought to the course and the crowds begin to gather. Favorites include Ser Timm Dayne, the legendary Dornishman and Aranya Royce who was one of the champions of the melee.
All the horses look sleek and raring to go.

Benfry digs in his spurs as he sets off with a silly grin plastering his face.
He only just avoids disaster as the Dothraki rider veers wildly and, in what seems a deliberate act of sabotage, knocks Lady Royce from the saddle in the first few seconds. Benfry manages to steer his gelding away from the chaos and gave chase to the easily recognisable cloak of Timm Dayne, out in front. He turned to look back to see if the two women were ok.

As Ser Benfry continues to fall behind, he grimly forgets about Ser Timm Dayne, now already around the halfway point, and focusses on those directly in front, seeking to place as high as he can. He begins to take some reckless risks, throwing caution to the wind as he tries to force more speed from his horse.

Timm growled as his horse overshot a turn and nearly slammed into the rails of the course, but the legendary knight yanked Dornish Sun's reins at the last minute, and the sand-stallion cut sideways, almost on a dime, and continued his gallop downfield.
Emelia, in the stands, just shook her head. "Showoff."

Benfry untangles himself from the hedge which Graham Blackwood's horse had forced him into - no doubt the man bore a grudge from the Melee. Unsporting, but I suppose nobles are a bit touchy about Hedge Knights defeating them he thought. Benfry shrugged to himself and re-mounted, cantering across the finish line long after the race had ended.
