The main kennel of the Rock is fairly large, but run by generally only a few individuals.

With all but the kennelmaster on leave (because of the great feast), there is great silence in the kennel. The silence is broken suddenly when a hooded stranger bursts into the structure. The figure unsheathes a steel longsword and sends it singing into the kennelmaster's chest before creating more commotion and attacking and bleeding a few of the hounds. He leaves in a hurry, leaving little behind but bleed and mess.

Two men, both wearing Blackwood colors, enter from the night. Both look around with wary eyes and keep a tight grip on the weapons at their belts.
"This must be it, then," Ser Kennos says, "Gods, it's a mess."
The rushes on the floor are soaked with blood. A few wounded dogs are whimpering, one is dragging a mangled leg pathetically. What must be the kennel master or one of the dog boys lies dead in the center of the kennel, a sword wound in his chest.
"Kennelmaster was probably just a cheat a cards or somesuch," Kennos tells his companion, "But Horas doesn't like unexpected things much. Best take a look around before more people start showing up."
The two men begin quickly searching the kennel, looking for any hints of the assailant or likely causes for the murder.

Ser Xavier Hill followed by four men-at-arms enters the Kennel rubbing the sleep from his eye. Seeing the two men already there, he starts and pulls his sword. The move immediately mimicked by his four men.
"Do not move! Your are now in Lord Lannister's custody!" The spread out in an attack formation.

Alyssa peered into the kennels, the stench of blood immediately swelling into her nostrils in a rank wave. She had snuck past the guards without much trouble and snuck stealthily into the kennel, but what exactly did Aerie want her to unearth? The culprit? For that she would need time, time to survey the carnage and melt into the town to coerce answers from silent yet knowing tongues. She chanced a glance around herself, then ducking back to fix her keen amber gaze into the kennels. Her eyes widened in surprise when she saw Kennos and Blackwood men, clutching their weapons with more apprehension than brawny ferocity facing the Lannister guards like cornered jackals. Alyssa froze, sensing motion behind her, and suddenly Aerie was by her side.
“Oh no,” Aerie groaned, taking in the sight of wounded dogs whimpering for mercy and the blood-spattered walls gleaming in the dark like becons of death. She had always been a animals lover, and seeing creatures suffer hurt her heart. She took it as a person affront. “Leave it to Kennos to be an absolute idiot. That man always had more courage than sense.” She deliberately avoided mentioning the slayed dogs, choosing to pretend in from og Alyssa that she had given them no extra thought. The poor girl tried so hard to freeze over her soul. “Wait!” Aerie stepped into view of the men, swelling imperiously with a toss of her raven tresses. “Surely you do not mean to harm my men, the people of Raventree, sworn to the King and here in the honor of the fallen at Casterly Rock?” That child thought nothing beyond her...

"Do not move! Your are now in Lord Lannister's custody!" The spread out in an attack formation. Ser Kennos instinctively pulls his sword from its scabbard, and the other guard follows suit. Before anything extreme happens, however, Kennos raises his free hand in a calming gesture. "Easy now, Lannister. We're no foes. We've just come to see what there is to be seen here, and help as we can. Let's just put our swords away, eh? Gods know this room doesn't need any more blood in it." Despite his words, Kennos keeps his own sword out, his eyes flicking from guard to guard, ready to defend himself if any attack.

Xavier looked at the new arrivals, and started shifting nervously. "I know not ma'am. I am here to obey orders. I think we should all wait, patiently, until I get some clarification on some very unclear commands." He licked his lips.

Kennos' eyes flick towards the two women in the doorway. He looks as if he is about to say something to them, but shuts his mouth instead and turns back to face the Lannister guards.
"You heard the lady," Kennos intones, his eyes still travelling from one guard to the next, "Unless your orders consist of pissing the living fuck out of every Blackwood in Raventree Hall, I think you should sheath your godsdamned swords."

"I am the law here, Blackwood. You sheath your sword." Xavier spits onto the ground. "That sounded downright foolish. Alright we will lower our swords."
Xavier and his men lower, but do not sheath their blades.

Aerie arched her eyebrows at Kennos 'subtlety,' refusing to let herself smile at his quip. She needed to seem self-possessed at this point. "I understand your circumstance," she said soothingly, "but surely Lord Lannister would not mind if we took a look around. We will do no harm. After all the dead are already dead," she put it simply.

Kennos Keath stares at Xavier for a few moments, then lets loose a sudden bark of laughter. Kennos gives an elaborate, mocking theatrical bow and thrusts his sword back into its sheath. The other Blackwood guard looks around uncertainly before sheathing his blade as well.
"Right then, Lannister. I reckon I'm more than a match for you with my bare fists anyhow. Me and my man will be searching to see if the murderer was a bloody moron and incriminated himself somehow. You men can stand around kicking dog shit, or you can help us."
Keath resumes searching, not entirely sure he'll find anything.

Ser Kennos strides over to Aerie and her companion.
"You're Horas' coz, right? Thanks for the words and all, but you shouldn't be here. Grisly work, this. You ladies don't need to trouble yourself with it."

Aerie let out a contemptuous laugh, tossing back her head to grimace at the ceiling. "Grisly work, is it? Well, that will suit our needs just fine. The Gods know this place is much too lavish, and clean, and full of grim stone to do anyone an ounce of good. You may be surprised at what this lady can do. Alyssa can already snap you like a twig, and I happen to handle blood much better than most...ladies." She spat out the word softly like flinging a venomous spider from her body, wrinkling her nose at it all. This dress was driving her insane, and if anybody called her Lady this or Lady that one more time, she would rend at the seams. "I have seen it at the edge of my sword often enough...Alyssa," she barked, irritated. Go and soothe the Lannisters' frayed nerves. Then you can come join Kennos and I in this lovely task." When Alyssay strode briskly away, Aerie turned to Kennos. "I think you should know I would have let those men chew you alive if it wasn't for the fact I need to browse the kennels in peace. What a foolish thing to do, even for you, coming into a crime scence armed with your men and swords like a petty cut-throat. You are lucky I came in time to see that you were not killed. I don't think there could be a better way to disgrace our name." She stared at him without expression for a moment. "Well, what are you waiting for? We must commence! Others will come to usher us out, surely." She gestured for them to begin.

Xavier sheaths his sword and eyes Kennos with a little contempt. Moving forward he asks, "What exactly are you looking for? Do you think the murderer spelled his name out with dog bits?" Xavier walked to the Kennel master's body. "Ahh Petey, I always told you that you spent far too much time down here." He examined the dead man's wounds with a practiced eye.

Aerie shot Xavier a querulous stare and Alyssa stepped in smoothly between them. "Aye, you never know what clues the dogs may leave behind in vengeance," she slurred heartily, trying to invoke humor in the cold atmosphere. She eyed the man curiously, shifting her weight so she seemed to be lounging on her haunches even when she was standing. "You want to share with us your theories?" she queried softly, attempting to keep the exchange just between them. "Lady Aerie pretends like she knows what in the Seven Hells she's doing, but she's no expert at this. She half kill herself trying to climb up walls for clues she doesn't know how to look for. Honestly, she just wants to the first one on the scence so she can somehow solve it all out on her own and ended up apprehending the criminal before all of Westeros. She's a silly one."
