"Spicer and I were equals in the Goldhands. To gain a promotion I would need Lord Piers to be murdered, not Spicer." Vikter answered patienly, he waits for the follow up he knows is coming.

"Well here she is", said Terrence, obviously amused, "Aerie! Come here and introduce yourself to the good host, Lord Baldwin."

OoC: ouch, that was a bitch.
Aerie gave a start, almost slopping wine all over her gown. It seemed her father knew her tricks a little too well for comfort. With a sullen wince, she handed her cup to a madly giggling Alyssa and strode slowly to her father, nose tilted ever so slightly in the air with enviable confidence, like a self-assured doe testing the air before she stepped from her winter den. Her cheeks appeared slightly flushed as she halted by his side, and she devoutly avoided his gaze, but by the time her acid green eyes had drawn level with Lord’s Baldwin's, they were resolutely devoid of any expression at all, including the goodwill of a young guest in the presence of the host. All that remained was a self-possession on the brink of iciness, but away enough from that precipice that no one could publicly voice any qualms about it, only acknowledge it in their minds and regard it quietly.
“Why, Lord Baldwin,” she began cordially, her voice ever so lightly laced with mocking and her eyes as stolid as ever, “I do not think we’ve had the pleasure to meet. I am Aerie Blackwood, my father's youngest, but, as you probably know, that will change now that we have another on the way. Who knows how long my mother will continue to bear, at least until our number swells to fifteen, surely. I’m a little uncertain if there will be enough room in Raventree for them all, but, look, there I go rambling again! You’ve organized a splendid tourney. Are you enjoying yourself?” She smiled up at him innocuously, the slightest of twists in her mouth exuding the faintest trace of mirth behind the smooth lines and plastic graciousness. She could almost sense Alyssa off in her corner, laughing hoarsely into her cup to the disdainful stares of strangers.

Baldwin looks at Aerie Blackwood, "There have been unexpected tragedies, but other then those misfortunes it is well. It is good you are enjoying yourself. We have enjoyed your company." replied Baldwin politely. His manners barely cover his lack of interest in her well being.

Aerie continued to gaze at him raptly, an eyebrow tensing as she noted his decidedly bland behavior. “The tragedies were certainly…odd. Have you enjoyed by cousin’s company? I heard you two became…ahh, well acquainted.” She smiled benignly up at him, her face utterly innocent and demure under his uninterested scrutiny.

"Yes I asked him to investigate Spicer's death. With the recent trouble between my men and the Tyrells, and Tyrells being the prime suspects in the crime, I thought it would be best for a neutral party to investigate." Baldwin stoney eyes lock on to Aerie's and his false smile fades.

Aerie’s smile only deepened and took on a wry tone. “I guessed as much, but I find it odd that he is questioning on of your own men, so to say, about it? Horace was never the able sleuth, but, who knows, perhaps he knows where he is going with this.” Her acid eyes gleamed buoyantly when Baldwin dropped his forced polite manner and regarded her frankly with cool displeasure. It was all she could do to hold back amused laughter.

"He can question whoever he likes as long as he is actively pursuing the culprit." Baldwin paused for a moment, "Have you had reason to test Horas's sleuthing ability often?"

ooc-Cause it could have been some one else in his family for him. Or just an elevation of the general Lannister and Tyrell violence. Also because I it is fun to paint them all as murderers.

She laughed lightly, shaking her head and idly twisting the ring adorning her finger. She flicked her dark eyes back to him and said airily, “Do you have reason to suspect me?” She returned to her amused half-smile, her ring once more revolving slowly upon a slender finger as she twirled it gently to and fro, her gaze still focused on Lord Baldwin and the slight shifts of expression that rippled through his face.

"No more then any one else. I asked because you said he did not have very good sleuthing abilities. I was curious as to how you quantified his ability?" Baldwin raised his eyebrow.

OoC: oh, Baldy is a mean one :]
"I know what you meant," she grunted, feeling suddenly petulant when he felt the need to explain his words to her in case his prior statement had been too difficult for her to comprehend. Humor sailed right past him, apparently. “I do not think it would be appropriate,” she said carefully, “for me to discuss him without him being present to defend himself. You should trust your instincts regarding him without myself discrediting his abilities. People usually don't like it when I tread that path, and I think it would be in my best interests to stay in my cousin's good graces.” She smiled thinly, grudgingly acknowledging he had won this round with her. He was trying to break down her confidence and using her sarcastic humor against her with asking her to verify her idle words. Her eyes clouded with hazy resentment. What was she supposed to say, recall the stories of her youth when she hid from the busy-bodies of Raventree and managed to remain without being located until she herself deemed it time to come out? That was, of course, no true blemish against Horace’s sleuthing abilities, and that was why her remark had been light and comical, not well-rehearsed and solemn. He really thought in straight lines…or he knew very well how to make people feel uncomfortable. The Others take the man. She wanted to make him bite back his words.

Baldwin grunted, "I see." He turned to Lord Blackwood, "I have heard from some of my men that your daughter is quite the conversationalist, and with her other obvious charms you must be quite proud?" His lips quirk into the smallest of smiles.
