"Good, yes he was on his way to met me, we talked of a military attack. But that is not why I have asked you here Lilith." pausing he took a deep breath, "This is a delicate subject. My son most likely ran away on his own adventure. But if he did not, if he was coerced, it would have to be a Lannister, a Royce or a Targaryen."
Running his hand through his beard, "I know it was not a Lannister; the couple who are capable of such an act either have alibis or were locked in a dungeon. So I need to know more about the Royces and Targaryens. Can you help me?"

She took the question with the seriousness that it was asked. "The Royces are as alarmed as the Lannisters that Allard has disappeared. We know the health and happiness of Sara depends upon her having a fruitful marriage." She frowned and continued, "And Targaryens here are a tetchy and quarrelsome bunch but frankly they are gormless and shackled by their lack of language skills, a challenge to single combat would be more their style than a kidnapping. Some of the ones in Kings Landing are more sophisticated but they are days away."
She put one small piece together. "I know Ser Allard was known for his virility, could someone have used that against him? I know my younger kinsmen have been susceptible to even the most obvious of ploys."

She thought of Jon's threats to kill Allard and devoutly hoped this disappearance had nothing to do with it.

"It is possible, even though I think that was more rumor then truth. Most of what others know of Lannisters is more whisper then fact." Pausing Baldwin looked at Lilith a moment, "While the happiness of Sara does depend on my son's well-being, she has no danger to her health. None at all."
Looking at her harder, he added "I know Sara is not capable of any violence herself. She couldn't have accidental put any thought into my son's head, could she?" Baldwin grimaces and wishes Piers was here, he had all the subtly of a dagger, Baldwin was better as a mace.

She smiled slightly at his reply. "I am glad to hear of your assurances of Sara's health, she is important to us. And no, I don't think she accidently pushed him away sometime this morning. She is a new bride, she had other things to occupy her thoughts." For the first time she saw something she respected in Baldwin, he wanted to know where he his son was. "Ask about his associates" she urged, "They can tell you his patterns better than, I, a stranger to him, can."
The bells begin to chime in the new year. She glances at Baldwin to see if he is ready to end their talk and officially greet the 506th year of the seven.

Hearing the bells he grunts, "Your better get the Lady back to the celebration." He stares at the wall for a long time after they leave.

The midnight celebrations proceed without incident and Lilith manages to herd her gaggle and herself back to their very comfortable Lannister beds.

Selwyn goes to bed hungry and alone. None of the Targaryen princesses seemed to show any interest in a Valeman bastard who spoke no Valyrian beyond crude sailor's curses, and the Lannister serving maids were to stunned by the threat of war to be lured into his bunk.
The Bastard of Runestone curled up with a wineskin and dreamed of better places than this ugly Rock, full of frigid women and an exit barred by locked gates. Wherever Allard was, he was envious -- it couldn't be less interesting than here.
Envy was a feeling Selwyn had been cultivating all his life.
He wondered what trouble Alanya was getting to unwatched in the Vale. She usually ended up in enough trouble she'd need his steel to get her out. That, and she'd make his bunk a much more comfortable place right now.

Elane was restless. She and Breyn had been having an interesting conversation with the Targaryens before Baldwin appeared looking worried and angry - and rightly so. She and her kin were just as worried. Baldwin's heir was missing, and with him was the Royces' claim to Casterly Rock.
She sat up in bed, frowning. "Sara was the last person to see him," she muttered to herself. "Was he still there when she awoke the morning after, and did he speak with her?" It occurred to Elane that she had not seen her cousin since the bedding. She rose from the bed, belted her robe, and went in search of Sara.
