Lilith circulated through the ballroom, and groups of nobles split off to try their fledgling skills in the Common Tongue or to engage in the universal language of dance. She noticed Piers from the corner of her eye and smiled. She admitted to herself that she had dressed specifically for this meeting. Her severe dark blue dress was embroidered with a large golden dragon that seemed poised to eat the cat with sapphire eyes that nestled between her breasts.

Lord Royce walked over to Lord Lannister. "Good day Lord Baldwin. Allard is fine lad, and will make an excellent husband to my sister."

Lord Baldwin walked up to Lilith Royce and fixed her with one of his rock hard glares. "I believe I saw you at Ser Rhdori's wedding feast. You have spent a great deal of time with these Targaryens. How have they struck you?"

Turning to his fellow Lord, "Yes he will. She will make a good Lady Lannister some day." Sternly he looked at Lord Breyn, "Hopefully they will have sons and soon. Nothing is so loose as a house with no foundation for the future."

Lord Breyn smiled wryly at Lord Lannisters comment and replied, "You are correct Ser. I believe that both you and Ser Robert Grafton, my Master at Arms, are of a like mind. Fear not, all issues have a tendency to work themselves out."

"Yes... you are not married yet. Have the Targaryens offered a marriage to seal you to their house. With the war I do not think there are a lot of available women of your standing." Baldwin stared unblinking at the younger man.

Trying to match Baldwin's stare, Lord Royce eventually surrendered and blinked. "They have made implications, but as yet, have not offered me a match."

"I wonder why. I, in their place, would have you married to a daughter in a blink. How many daughter's does our new King have?" Lord Baldwin clasps his hands behind his back. "Have you seen their dragon yet? Do you know anyone who has?"

"Perhaps the Targaryens have escaped from the fiery impetuousness that plagued them, and now think long and hard before committing to a course of action. I'm unsure how large the Targaryen family is. They have been very secretive. I believe my brother has seen the dragon, so you might want to ask him."

"So it is real. I thought that they might spread that rumor to maintain control. Hopefully they have gained control. You've read your history." Pausing for a bit, Baldwin continued, "I just want to let you know, I bargained hard with Dondarrion, and go a lot of concessions. But the reason I involved my self in the war was because of our alliance. I thought it was important to back your move."

Lady Lilith, momentarily distracted by a request to translate for one of the Valyrians, returns to the conversation with Lord Baldwin and her kinsmen.
"I am just a humble servant of the court but I have been impressed by our sovreign. He is measured and has been just in his dealings with the people of Kings Landing. I have been particularly impressed by his attention to the affairs of commerce in the land. Far better to promote the health of a country by furthering trade and prosperity than by raping and pillaging this fair land of ours."
Lilith, unlike her kinsman, had seen the dragon but had nothing to say on the subject.

ooc: Read "translating for Valyrians" as "cursing her damned over heated little laptop for crashing again" ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

"I appreciate that Lord Baldwin, and I won't forget it. May this wedding cement our alliance for many years to come."
