It is the year 200 After Conquest. Out of respect to the Targaryen dynasty which begat House Blackfyre, King Daemon I has declared that he and his descendants will honor the dating system and naming conventions of his forefathers. Despite this nod to their ancestors, the last members of House Targaryen itself remain exiled to Essos. There, it is rumored, they are sheltered in Volantis, where they cultivate old alliances.

But in Westeros, it is the black dragon that adorns the Red Keep's walls. King Daemon has begun rewarding his dearest allies in the Blackfyre War. His first act was to announce his new Kingsguard, lead by his close friend Ser Quentyn Ball. The second, to declare the birth of House Bittersteel of Dragonstone, in honor of the King's Hand and kingmaker himself. The rest will be given appropriate lands and titles. A select few, those deemed either powerful or prestigious enough, will be given wives of Targaryen descent. And due to Aegon's last commandment, there is no shortage of legitimized bastards to go around.

Your small knightly house is one such ally. When your Lord struck down the vile sorcerer Bloodraven at Redgrass Field, his name became synonymous with Bittersteel and Fireball as a champion of House Blackfyre. Throughout the next four years, he would continue to cover his name in glory, and earn the trust of his liege. He is to be wed to the King's half sister, and awarded the keep and lands of Harrenhal. It will be a difficult task, as House Tully were firm supporters of the old regime, and scars are especially fresh in the Riverlands.

As players, you'll establish an original house, down to your lineage, history, and even name. In this house, you will grapple with local politics, old feuds, royal crises, and the inevitability that you will suffer without dignity and die without purpose, nought but another name in the list of doomed masters to grace Harrenhal. But at least you're not Smallfolk.
