We're implementing a skill set specifically for the dragons. I don't want to explain it here as the combat mechanism in particular still requires work, but it should be clear by the time we're ready. Sorry, that's not a proper answer, but I don't want to explain a system that's not finished yet.

Well, I get that, but not sure its entirely the same thing. I mean, I can be Grandmaster of DragonSkillz, but if my dragon is the size of a house cat, and yours is the size of a freight train, I'm going to lose.

If there's enough interest in the future, we could potentially open up Velaryon as well. I'd be hesitant to add the Baratheons, as Orys is simply rumored to be Aegon's bastard brother, not confirmed.
The point is to have the majority of the drama center on the capital. As the prequel books have shows, there's more than enough drama within the royal to justify that being the focus. Plus, if everyone doesn't get a dragon, the balance is a bit off. Though I suppose if someone REALLY doesn't want one (Viea), we could have a dragonless character. There have been a few Targs that were simply unable to bond with a dragon.
Stranger we've put a lot of thought into that question and have a system I'm pretty happy with. There are 5 dragon sizes based on ages, with bonuses to certain traits. An old dragon, for example, would receive some bonuses to combat over a younger dragon but penalties to agility. We've also only made the first 3 age brackets available for character creation. The two oldest ranges have to be tamed, which brings about its own set difficulties and dangers.

All PC associated dragons will be of riding size. All I can say at the moment is that size will factor into the dragon's abilities.

Sounds like you guys have it well in hand. Just thought I'd raise the issue case you hadn't thought of it, but you clearly have.

How are you going to factor in the fact that in just about every single dragon vs. dragon air battle we saw in the book, both dragons and both riders were killed, other than that one fight where Prince Aemond and Vhagar killed the Lucerys and Arrax near Storm's End, which wasn't even really a fight. Pretty much all the other dragon fights resulted in both sides being killed or at least crippled…

We've not got there yet. We're starting off with the dragons and their riders on the same side so that's something that will probably come up later on. It may be one of those situations where we need to make alterations for the sake of RP otherwise we'd just end up killing more people than is practical for game purposes. I'm planning to give the Princess and The Queen another read through for useful info, and also The Mystery Knight as well as I've only read that once and I know it features dragon eggs quite prominently.

Eh, I feel like if we have dragons we should at least make dragon warfare comprable to how it was in the book. It'd be pretty lame if everyone was just flying around invincible and were just dueling from dragonback or whatever. The Princess & the Queen will be our best resource when it comes to all things Dragon.

Let's see what Zack says. He's more into the fighting aspect and will almost certainly be more open to killing people off. But he'll presumably read this and then he and I will discuss it.

One thing that might be of value, is if there is some Mutually Assured Destruction in dragon fights, then roleplay should be more emphasized, since anything worth fighting for has to be worth dying for. I mean, I agree that you don't want to have a dragon based game where no one feels they can ever use their dragon, but if its something that requires seriously thinking about, it might have some positives too.

Exactly, I don't propse we all just fight in the air and keep killing our characters off, but if the reality is that you have an 80% chance of dying even if you "win" the fight on dragonback, it will really make people think carefully about how they want to use dragons in combat.
