"That may be, but aid cannot possibly reach us on the road, and certainly not before Stark's men do. These are good, godsfearing people and though all are willing to lay down their lives for the Faith, I do not wish to see them die without good cause. Besides, how ever shall we send a letter to the queen unless one of the local lords is willing to defy his lord and send a raven on her behalf. Even if we sent a man with one of the horses, there is no certainty he will make it past the Neck alone. And there is Moat Cailin to contend with. I do not know who - if anyone - commands theree. But even if it has a master, I do not believe they would send a raven on our behalf."
He thought for a moment. "Perhaps you are right and our best option is to press on to Moat Cailin. If the gods are good, perhaps we might be able to rest there a while."

"It is true that aid will not reach us before Stark does." Leyton commented. "But aid will never reach us if we are seen to have been cowed by his petty threats. If we send a rider for White harbour he will have sanctuary should he reach it. The letter may be sent by boat, and while it would take time, the truth of Stark's aggression would eventually emerge." Leyton offered.

"Yes, perhaps. The journey to Moat Cailin is not so far and it may be possible to send someone back to White Harbor, where Stark dare not offer harm. It may be that a raven might even be sent from there. Do you believe your kinsman would threaten Stark if need be?"

"I do not know." Leyton replied. "But I am sure Stark does not either, and perhaps that can be used to our advantage."

"Perhaps that is so," Gyles murmured. "You know your kin better than I."

Brother Braumin came up to where the two leaders were discussing their next move. He hadn't heard what Lord Stark had said, so he looked at the men.
"I saw that you were spoken to and by the look on your faces, I'm saying that we are in trouble? The men and women in the group has started talking among themselves and I am sure that it won't be long before they're going restless, so what did the lord say?"

"We have been given one hour to turn around and return to White Harbour. It is an ultimatum we cannot possibly accept." Leyton replied grimly.

After an hour, Eirek rode back toward the Faithful, this time with a dozen men. The remainder of his cavalry spread out, across the road and along the sides of it.
"Your hour is up. Turn back, cross the White Knife, and it will be as if this never happened."

Leyton glanced at his comrades. "Gyles, you and Braumin are to take horses and travel to white harbour. Ensure that the queen is made aware of this breach of law."
He turned to Stark. "We are lawful travellers who have committed no wrong. We will not be cowed from our course by you or your men."
(OOC: sorry for the delay Eirek, I was waiting on a reply.)

OOC - oops, I too was expecting a Braumin response! I'd have bugged Swede if I realised.
Gyles looked over Leyton with a sad expression. "My dear boy, Brother Braumin may go, but I do not believe I can leave you here alone. It would be murder."

"Very well, Braumin, find a knight to accompany you, go now and you may yet escape. We will hold stark and his men for as long as we are able to." Leyton instructed quietly.

"In that case, I must place you under arrest for violation of the Queen's peace, with the intent to overthrow one of her lords."
He motioned for the men who had stayed behind to move closer. To the dozen men next to him, he said, "Circle around behind them. Should anyone try to make a run for it, deal with them."
"Will you come quietly, Ser Boy? You have my word that I will do no harm to your sycophants, if you give yourself up peacefully."

"I am sorry, Gyles." He said to the Septon. "This is the only way in which our followers can be saved along with the integrity of our cause. Write to both the Queen and my cousin, Lord Gwayne informing them of what has occurred." (OOC: Not my original plan, but the delay ruined that one.)

"Good." One of Eirek's men dismounted and picked up the sword, handing it to his lord. "You, your knights, and other ringleaders will come with us to Winterfell. The peasants will return to White Harbor."
One of his men produced a pair of manacles, and moved to place them on Leyton's wrists.

"Are you changing the terms of your offer, my lord?" Leyton stared Stark down, unmoving.
