"So it is. That is a fair point. You'll have my blessing then," Gwayne replied. "As long as we are absolutely sure we have the moral right to do this thing. In the meantime, I fear we must wait to learn what will happen about the High Septon's call. I believe when we go home we will have to find out what the mood is at the Starry Sept."

Gareth nodded. "I will make it my business to visit the Starry Sept and find out how the wind blows. What I need is men and ships to begin working towards our goal."

"Yes. We've a standing force, of course, but it would not hurt to raise more troops if you can do that. Our ships are, of course, docked at Oldtown and the Arbor. Feel free to warn our uncle Redwyne that we may have need of his ships soon enough, but I'd prefer not to manouevre too soon," Gwayne said.

"I prefer to call it supplying and manning our keep." replied Gareth. "No one can object to that."

"They cannot, but it is important not to draw attention to your activities. It good to be prepared, but I don't wish the Starks to get wind of this. Nor the former Crown Prince, either. We'd best not forget about him."

"If the Crown aids the High Septon against the Starks, the Northerners will have little recourse but to throw their lot in with the Prince. Then we can argue we are defending our good Queen Rose's hold on the Iron Throne." replied Gareth. "But don't worry Gwayne, It's not in our interests for the Starks to find out. For that reason I'll be careful."

"Good. I am pleased we are of one mind."
He filled his wine glass.
"Have you had any thoughts about marriage, dear brother?"

Gareth chuckled. "None at all, brother. I suppose I will one day and maybe sooner if the right lady comes along."

"I think we should start looking. After all, you're my heir until I have legitimate children, and we'll need to shore up our alliances further. If I can't win the Queen's affection I'll have to marry somebody else, but it doesn't hurt to consider possible matches. We're allied to the Baratheons and the Tullys, and Izzy's boy is a Tyrell, but we should look to other alliances too," Gwayne pointed out.

"And you have an alliance in mind?" asked Gareth.

"I have some thoughts, yes. It would be unwise to ally with the Lannisters when we are already allied to the Baratheons, but there's the Royces and mayhaps even the Martells. Do you have any thoughts yourself?"

Gareth thought for a moment. "The Martells make more sense politically but I'm unaware of any suitable candidates."

"Yes. Unfortunately that is true," Gwayne sighed. "But they may have kin or close friends seeking a husband. But I agree, it would be ideal if we could ally with the Dornish, given their close proximity. Lord Tully promised me a meeting with Evan Martell, but I've not heard from him since. So it seems that pursuing a Dornish alliance would have to be done some other way."

'There is also a question of a dowry." replied Gareth with a grin. "After all my wife and I will need suitable lands to live upon."

"You have a castle of your own," Gwayne pointed out. "With luck, your chosen bride will have a dowry of her own. I would be able to contribute something, I expect."
