OOC: IF you want to do a search of the room, please post a skill stat that you think would be appropriate. Perception, Espionage, anything like that works for me.

Markus slipped in behind the others, late once again. He had watched the girl and boy squabbling with Creighton in the street outside the shack, and moved up to join the group when they forced their way into the building. He looked at the body nonchalantly, examining the scene and the orientation of the corpse. "She was just the contact, girl, Cave didn't send six men just to pick up a package from her," he sneered.
He also began to examine the floor, for the indication that anything may have been buried recently.

The woman appears to have been killed while standing, and probably is laying where she fell. If Markus had to guess, he'd say she got up to investigate a noise at the door, and then was immediately overwhelmed and stabbed to death, before the room was then searched.
The floor is made of wood (it's the second story), but his examination of the ground DOES yield results, as he finds a loose board that looks like it may have been pryed up recently and then replaced.

Wordlessly he moves closer to the loose board, and pulled out a dagger to try and pry it open again. He unobtrusively glanced around, to see if the others noticed what he was doing.

As Markus is digging in the floor with a dagger in the middle of a room filled with a dead corpse, it's fairly noticeable. (OOC: any character who has not said they left the room, notices.)
Beneath the floorboard he finds a small cubby hole. Inside is a rolled up piece of parchment. When Markus picks up the parchment, a small silver key falls out of it.

He pockets the key quickly, and opens the note to read it.

Sasha saw Markus prise up the floorboard while she was readying her knives, since she was waiting for Gregory to lead the way. She knew well that she was not the best person to go first in a fight. She waited for the others to be ready to leave.

The note appears to be in code. It has similarities to a Cave code that Markus knows, but is not the same, and so he can not read it without work.

The damage to the door suggested a heavy weight behind the kick, so probably a man, and a large one. The blade wounds are very numerous, suggesting a dagger rather than a sword. The room has been thoroughly trashed as though the killer had tossed it looking for something." Ser Creighton scratched his chin as he considered his options. The rest of his companions seemed preoccupied with the room which meant that they'd find whatever loot was inside. He swore silently to him for his continued bad luck and missed opportunities. The stench was too much for Podrick, he needed to get out of that place. "I'll go watch the door, in case these bastards choose to come back." "If yer thinkin' of takin' me spot by the door, boy, yer in luck. I need to take a piss, and then I'll look around downstairs to see if there's somethin' down there that could be of use to us." He said and grinned micheavously toward his fellow Valeman. --- As Creighton came down the stairs, he decided to have a look at the first floor where the barkeep had said the drunk big man that hated to be disturbed lived, as the scenes upstairs didn't have anything to do with each other. And this time, Creighton decided that he'd be the first finding something useful, and maybe the big man ha heard anything. He knocked hard on the door, not really caring if he annoyed the man inside, the man stood between Creighton and the promise of loot.

Gregory frowned slightly upon the discovery under the floorboards, humming to himself quietly. "Anything helpful? I do believe we've found everything we can in here, though. I'm returning to the horses. Don't let yourself end up like her." He paused when he heard the knocking downstairs, shrugging. "On second thought, I'll go make sure he doesn't get killed by a large angry drunk man." He left the room and went downstairs, joining Creighton, albeit a few feet back and to the side.

"Too late Creig..." Podrick was already halfway there.
//////////////
The young knight stood by the door whistling some random tune. He kept a straight posture and his hand over his shoulder, hanging on his bright clean bastard sword, all trying to look as imposing as he could. His eyes gazed all around trying to find someone who might seem suspicious.

Sasha sauntered over to Markus where he was looking over at the letter. "What does it say?"

"Bugger off," he growled. There was silence after that.
