"I wish I found it so," she said, meaning it. "I fear I cannot match you for learning, my prince. I find myself chiefly interested in the present, not the past. But...now there is going to be a war, because the Starks still hold to the old gods. Is that not troubling?" Evan sighed deeply," All wars are troubling... Especially when they are religious conflicts. " He ran his hand over the soft leaves the flowers and bushes. "I could sound arrogant and say that as long as it doesn't move south to Dorne I could care less, but that would be a lie." Shaking his head slowly, "I see my lands fulfilling their duty and defending the crown and many people losing their lives." "We have coexisted this long in peace. I don't understand why it seems so difficult now. "

"Nor I. But there is clearly a problem, else we would still be in peace. And it's their gods who are wrong, so it must be their fault," Amanda said with a little shrug. "They started it, not us."

Evan sighed," We can not help what the North does... In truth they are big enough to govern themselves, if they wished it." He took a chrysanthemum in to his hand touching the petals,"And it's not their Gods, that are the problem.. It is their belief and faith." He looked at her again,"I do not believe in forcing people to agree with my ideas, and that seems to be what has started this mess.. Someone forcing their ideas on to someone else in order to rule over them. "

"Yes, perhaps it is," Amanda agreed. "This is why we should never have let them keep their tree gods. Though it would be sad to lose the gardens and godswoods, wouldn't it? But to me, it is so strange to worship anywhere except the sept. The statues are so beautiful at the Great Sept of Baelor. No tree can compare to the wonder a skilled mason can create from stone and jewels." She sighed and stepped ahead a little.
"Seven take the Northmen, every one!"

Evan sniffed the flower lightly, watching her walk and listening to her. He then spoke, "I do agree that the statues of the Sept are beautiful, but those masons were blessed to have that talent.. And no a tree can not compare to glamour and man made beauty of the Sept, but trees are beautiful none the less whether they are crafted by the old gods or the Seven. " "I come from a land of sand and heat. Stone and sand are plentiful, but the beauty of trees that grow tall are scarce." Evan did not comment on her last statement, he felt no need to, her opinion was hers and he knew he would not change her mind to convictions.

She turned to look at him.
"I suppose you must value what you do not have more than we who have lots of trees," she acknowledged. "Trees are beautiful, yes - some of them at least - but I am sure your mountains and deserts are beautiful too. And I am sure you do not have a sand god in Dorne. Or do you?"
Her eyes sparkled with mischief.

Her eyes sparkled with mischief. "They are beautiful during a sunset or a sunrise. The colors are almost majestic." He then chuckled at her," Sand God?? No, my dear lady we do not have those." "We worship the Seven as just you do. I do believe that there may have been a Red Tower in Dorne for worshipers of Rhilor a long time ago, but I'm not truly sure, that I would have to check on."

"I suppose it would make sense, with the heat you have in Dorne," she said, laughing. "But it makes no matter to me, truly. One day I should like to cross the mountains and see into the land that my kinsmen called the home of demons and rogues. Old prejudices, you know. They don't die easily, do they?"

Evan smirked at reference, "Well that is of the opinion of those of the Reach. It makes no nevermind to me of those who refuse to understand what is next to them." "Old prejudices can be broken and die, if both sides truly want to achieve something of merit. Something of importance." He then sniffed the flower and began chuckling, "Demons and rogues, really?" Evan then burst into laughter for a moment then he stopped , "Ahh such small minds, I now understand the precursor of the mindset of my lady."

"And now you have learned something new!" She said, laughing. "I am sure you know that I have moved past old prejudices, myself. As have many, of course, but there are some who still hold to those old ways, though they would never day say so in the presence of their betters."

He smiled,"I have had no choice but to move past prejudices. I so have my judgements but they are reserved until they are necessary. "

"That is a better way to be, I suppose, but there are few men who subscribe to such an opinion. Most cling to their old opinions until they are proved wrong, I find."
