"And the insult you offered my house and person by presenting her as a worthy bride?" he queried. "It is hard for me to believe that we were able to discover her transgressions at Casterly Rock while your house remained ignorant."
"How do you intend to smooth the ground between us for those slights, my lord?"

"From what I remember I presented no one; especially not my dire excuse of a sister," Aurane answered with a bitter voice. "Of course, I also have also not forgotten the murder of some of my banner men at Storm's End by your relative." He gave a pointed look to Lord Sammael, before his gaze returned to Oswyn. "As for my sister's doings at Casterly Rock, they are nothing I was aware of. I have good vision, though even I cannot see from the Stepstones to the Rock."

"If I remember correctly, that relative is short a head now." he reminded. "Your sister is alive and well. Were my sweet sister sent back to us from Lord Royce after bringing such shame to our name, I am certain my father or I would throttle her with our own hands rather than let the shameful stain upon our honor stand."
"You may have not had an inkling of the affair, but can the rest of your house say the same? Can your wife?"

"Lannisters are not kinslayers, Ser Oswyn," Aurane answered. "Your relative saw justice, as did Amelia, thus the offenses have been evenly dealt with. I will not have my personal honour insulted for a crime not of my doing. As for my wife's knowledge of any offenses I can assure you she remains ignorant. I took my time questioning her."

"Can kinsman that wounds his or her house so, still be called such?" he asked. "It warms my heart that you and your wife were innocent in this matter, though only so much comfort can be had in these trying times."
"I am glad Amelia performed her treachery without aid, though while we were on the subject I would be wrong not to inform you that she spoke to me in depth of her wishes to turn your brother Tynian against you. I know not for what purpose or how far along her plot has progressed, as I washed my hands of the matter, but now aware of the true depravity of her honor I can only assume it was not for innocent purposes."

Aurane considered this information for a moment, letting it digest. "Do you know the form of this... betrayal that my sister had planned? I am grateful of course, for this information... though sad to say I am not surprised." He frowned.

"I do not." Oswyn said sadly, wishing he had taken greater interest in the matter. "I know it involved attempting to get him a position on the small council in exchange for his allegiance against you."

"I see. Though it seems this plot has not come to fruition, thankfully," Aurane answered. "Speaking of the Small Council... there is a position that remains unfilled. I assume you have no knowledge of possibly candidates?"

"Her Grace seemed inclined to leave the position unfilled for the time being." he answered, with a shrug. "We have not had a Master of Whisperers for some time, after all."

"Perhaps not the most wise idea, but who am I to judge our Queen," Aurane replied, nodding. "Information is important, so I may see if I can... offer my services to her."

"I am sure your counsel would be appreciated." he replied, eyes not betraying any misgivings he might have about such an appointment.

"What's one more opinion," Aurane jested, though his face became serious. "I have already said this to your father, but I owe it to you to say it personally. I apologize for the slander my sister has brought upon you and know that she will not live as part of my family any longer. She will have a roof under which to live in but no love will be given her."

"The wounds are deep, but they may heal in time." he replied, tone lacking some of the chill of before. "Hopefully with only minimal scarring."

"We can never help the scars," Aurane said in parting, giving each man a respectful nod before collecting his men and leaving.

Lord Baratheon's men escorted the Lannister party out. Once they were gone, he looked at the yet-unopened chest, and then to one of the remaining guards. "Take that into the courtyard, and burn it," he said, and the men hurried to comply.
