"Lord Lannister," Sammael replied, matching his tone. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"We are both aware of the, shall we say, unfortunate circumstances that have come between our houses," Aurane said, a tone of regret in his voice. "Let me begin by saying that my sister is no fit representation of my family. Perhaps I am neither, regarding my reputation, but I am a man and we must do as we see fit."

"I do not hold you responsible for her transgressions, and it was out of respect to your station that her sentence was lighter than what would be customary," Lord Sammael replied. "It is my desire to put the past behind us; I hold no grudge because justice was duly done."

Aurane nodded. "May I say that it would have proven more tactful had word been sent to myself about the way this... annulment was to be set about. I am loathe to have a sister with a mutilated hand, though her reputation is the larger stain." He turned to the chest. "As for justice, Lord Baratheon, you are not the only one who metes it out. Within that chest you will find the head of the man who penned that slanderous poem."

Lord Baratheon's expression was impassive, but Aurane got the distinct impression he had surprised the man with the gesture. "You have my gratitude, my lord. That poem was the primary reason that we acted so... hastily, in this matter. I suspected that whoever wrote it would also attempt to use knowledge of Amelia's actions to humiliate House Baratheon, and chose to act before such could be attempted. I'll not deny that we were somewhat lacking in tact, but the trial and conviction were lawfully done."

"I simply wish I could have been present," Aurane told. "As for the annulment... I spoke with the High Septon and he informed me of the event. The man even managed to sound interested in my opinion on the matter."

"I would be surprised if he was interested in anything beyond his next meal," Baratheon replied dryly.

Aurane gave a chuckle. "Perhaps it is the Seven who are gifting him with a healthy girth." He paused. "I hear your son has been named to the Small Council. Impressive. I believe congratulations are in order."

"It is our honor to serve her grace the queen in what way we can," Lord Baratheon replied. "And it is my son, not I, who ought be congratulated, but again, my thanks."

"Then perhaps I could speak with him?" Aurane suggested, more open now. "It appears I would owe him a personal congratulation and reassurance that there is no enmity between myself and him."

Lord Baratheon nodded, and sent his squire to go fetch Oswyn.

Lord Oswyn arrived shortly. He had been surprised to hear Lord Aurane was treating peaceably within his house so soon after the unfortunate incident, but such thoughts were masked from his face.
"Lord Lannister." he greeted, with a respectful incline of his head. "I am told my presence was requested."

"Indeed," Aurane said, extending his hand towards the man. "Among other things I have come to congratulate you on your new position."

"That is most kind of you." he replied unconvinced, hands remaining at his sides.
His eyes drifted to the chest.
"Have you come bearing gifts as well?"

"The head of the man who wrote that poem," Aurane replied, his own hand remaining where it was.
"I felt it would reflect badly on me were I to not at least try to smooth the ground between us after my sister's dishonourable display."
