Bethany walks by the large statues in the main hall, watching her escort with an pondering expression.

Marcellus watched the Tully girl, his hands resting behind his back,"Is everything alright? You seem as if you have something on your mind." He then stopped at the statue of the Warrior, he had never seen the statues this close before, he had only seen them in books.
"Or are you as surprised as I am with our betrothal", he chuckled lightly and smiled at her.
"All for duty....", He then whispered to himself.

"Family. Honor. Duty." She muttered. "I am surprised, but not shocked. I would think my sisters would go first." She smiles to him. "Are you not pleased?" She asks him.

"Well", he looks at the statue again with a sigh,"I have never been in this situation before." Marcellus looks at her,"But what should I be pleased with? You are very pretty, which is nice, but we don't know each other..."
He shrugged,"This is how my parents were put together, but your uncle and my grandfather are friends, I guess so.." He then smiled,"From where I stand it does not seem to be a bad arrangement."
"But I want to know "you" first", he stared at her,"What you like, what you don't like.... We will live in Dorne, so I hope you will not wilt from the heat of our land where I have lived most of my life. I am curious and knowing more about you may make me more certain instead of so nervous."

She chuckles. "You may be in for a surprise, I do not like to sit and nit like my mother or Aunt used to do. My father taught me how to hunt, I like to explore, run along the trees, ride." She looked down. "Not very womanly qualities, however I like to have my fun, I was never really looked at as a potential bride when I was younger." She chuckles.

He nodded and crossed his arms witha grin,"Well, I am a Dornishman and in my famiy women who do not have the regular womanly qualities seem to be the best to marry."
"We do not want puppets, we want and love strong women",he smiled,"Look at my aunts, the eldest was the reigning Princess, another is married to Lord Lannister and my Aunt Lyssa is a tested warrior and our reigning Princess." He sat on a nearby step,"I am not bothered by strong women."

"Strong, is well....a strong word. I would like to consider that outgoing." She smirked and sat next to him. "Your family does have strong women. I will agree to that. But what about you?"

"Yes you are outgoing, which means you are not boring like most of these painted up women are in this world", he chuckled. He then shrugged,"I am at the service of Dorne, the service of my people." Then he realized she didn't mean that, he smiled,"I have dreams of being a knight like my father, to be skilled with sword and lance..." Marcellus then looked at her,"But if I called to service with my family I will. I want to rule as my aunt does, but I will have to wait", he grinned.
"I like to ride as well, I think you will particularly enjoy our horses in Dorne. They beautiful and very fast." He was not awkward around her or even very nervous. Marcellus kept staring at her, her hair especially, the color was....beautiful like a summer sunset. The bright color of the sun as it fell to the land.

She smiled, "Well seems we have something in Common." She chuckles. "I like to ride too, and I am sure you will be a knight. I see no reason why you can not achieve your dream." She slightly reddens at his staring.

Marcellus sees her slightly pale cheeks redden, he averts his stare to the face of the Mother,"It is my dream since I was a little boy, but my duty is to my house, to Dorne...." He then nodded with certainty, as the face of the statue reminded him of his own mother,"And to my wife... As a husband and a father."
"....To never abandon them...."

"And I am sure you will be Marcellus....." She touched his arm, her cheeks flushed when he mentioned being a husband and a father. "I am sure you will be what you dream of and more, to be a knight. You are at a good place, I am sure there will be time for you to prove yourself and then be knighted." She smiles warmly. "You dream of being a father?" She finally says, looking to the statues.

Nodding,"I do... I lost mine in a joust when I was younger by." He looked at her,"my grandfather and the Lord Hand have been my fathers. I respect them both greatly."
"I also lost my mother...." His face became stern,"There is nothing closer to war that would keep me from doing right by them. I can not be weak and forsakethe things I have to do."

Bethany nods her face sad. "I am sorry for your loss, and your loss of family, but you think showing emotion is showing weakness?" She asked him, "I think you are more human when you do." She looked him in the eye. "Perhaps, perhaps you just need someone you can show your emotion too? Someone who does not mind seeing the real you." She offered him a smile.

".... She killed herself....", he murmured. He shook his head,"My mother abandoned me when I was sent here, she blamed my grandfather and while he was here, she took her own life." Marcellus ran his hand through his hair, then stared at the Mother's face again,".... She was a coward, she was not a true Martell. She shamed our family."
He then stared in her eyes,"I do not have a problem with showing my emotion, I just have a problem with cowardice. I have a problem with being abandoned." his mouth formed a small pained grin,"I do not think any child should have to feel as I have. It is not fair and it hurts you forever."
