Oswyn bristled slightly at the accusation of ignorance on his part.
"I know the lineages of the great houses as well as any lord should. From where I stand, it simply seems that the most promising candidates have been wed already. Knowing your high standards, who still remains worthy of her hand?"

"You have identified the crux of the problem. There are houses with children of the right age. Powerful house, but not premiere houses." Bertrem replied.

"A pity my Theodore is only six, though I suppose there are other ways to bind the Stormlands to the Crown." Oswyn said evenly. "A shame that there seem to be more eligible women of age from the premiere houses, a fact I can only imagine Prince Damon is aware of."

"Indeed very, very aware. I know who he would choose as his wife if he were to... seize.... ummmm power." He smiled and shrugged, "We have less options for Rose."

She chuckled politely,"If you must know, "I asked that she not accompany me tonight." "I felt that should be allowed to see things for myself", she smiled with her lilac eyes twinkling with excitement,"as they are with out her this time." Melyssa then spotted the young lady Nymeria smiled at earlier. She smiled at her while motioning for her to join them, hoping she could aid her in dealing with the banters of the rude Lannister girl. "A wise decision," Nymeria replied with a clever little nod. "And how are you seeing things different, hmmm? It sure must help not having to hold your nose all the time; that old woman had a smell to her." She sipped at her watered wine and studied the man who was talking to the Royce. Melyssa shrugged, looking around,"That having a Septa with you at all times, though wise and seasoned, is not always necessary." She smiled at the Lannister, sipping her wine again. "I do recognize the houses but who are the eligible ones here that represent them, if you don't mind me asking you?"

"Then I hope you are keeping careful tabs on whichever house this potential bride hails from." Oswyn replied, running his thumb carefully along the grooves in the stag-horn handle that topped his cane. "Not to speak ill of my fellow lords, but even the noblest among us might be tempted by such an offer, even if the lad is doomed to fail."

Tyrell looked right at Amelia and said, "Oh yes... we are keeping very close tabs on that house."

Donnel fiddled with the collar of his garb as he entered the hall. If it was any tighter he doubted he'd be able to breathe at all. He sighed in defeat at the futile attempt at avoiding a rash. The young knight visibly straightened himself and took a deep breath before plunging into the crowds of lords and ladies alike. Eventually a recognizable face became clear in the sea of peoples and Donnel moved towards it, "Uncle! Uncle!" he called. Donnel had always admired Oswyn Baratheon for his skill at arms and relished any opportunity where he might discuss combat tactics with him.
A wide grin found itself upon his face. "It has been too long uncle." He remarked, roping him into a hug. "Damian told me what happened. When you're feeling better we'll have to spar. I've gotten better you know." The young Vale knight blushed as he noticed the others. "Lord Tyrell." he greeted with a bow. "Aunt Amelia." He pecked at her cheek. "My father sends his sincerest apologies. He has been unwell and the maester forbade him to leave the Eyrie."

Tyrell looked right at Amelia and said, "Oh yes... we are keeping very close tabs on that house." "That is very reassuring," Amelia said with her gentle smile. "Indeed, I am sure the realm can breathe with knowledge of such vigilance." Oswyn said, not missing Tyrell's thinly veiled subtext. "Though I would breathe easier with a worthy Master of Laws on the Small Council, should any acts of treason take place."

Tyrell looked right at Amelia and said, "Oh yes... we are keeping very close tabs on that house." Gareth had been listening with interest to the exchange between the Baratheons and the Tyrells. "Well Lord Bertram." he announced, a grin appearing on his face. "If you're looking for a suitor for your grand-daughter, our Queen, I'm available. I have a lovely keep down in the Stepstones that I can bring to the marriage. And I promise not to be too ambitious either. Hightowers are good blood too for the Targaryens. I believe King Viserys had a Hightower bride."

Jennalynn saw her cousin enter the manor and she looked at Meryn as she rose and curtsied.
"I am sorry, ser, but I see cousin Donnel and I haven't seen him in years" she said and flashed him a smile. "Maybe we can talk more later, I think I'd like that."
She curtsied when she reached Donnel, Amelia, Oswyn, Gareth and Lord Tyrell.
"My Lord Tyrell, may I compliment you on most wonderful and lovely party" she said before she looked at the two knights with a smile "Sers, I am honored to be in the presence of two knights of your bravery and I have been told much of your adventures in the Stepstones. It was quite the talk in court during the war"
"Lady Amelia, you are looking lovely this evening. You must tell me your seamstress' name, that gown I yours is magnificent"

I do not know you, but at least someone in Kings Landing appreciates our efforts in the Stepstones. I was just saying to Lord Bertram here that I would make a very good husband for his grand-daughter. What say you?"

Jennalynn returned Gareth's smile with a shy look upon her face, she knew that most men seemed to like that.
"I am Jennalynn Royce, good ser. I am Ser Donnel's cousin and Lord Royce's niece." She said and added a small and quick curtsy at the end. "I would never presume to say what would be a good choice for Her Grace. That is not my place, but any other girl would be lucky enough to have someone such as brave as you, Ser Gareth."

"You must be Lord Bayard's second son," she said warmly, taking his hand. "I am sorry your father and mother could not be here today." "Thank-you my lady, I shall be sure to tell them of your kindness." He released his hand from her grip. "Are you relieved to have your husband back home? There was much celebration and relief upon my brother's return."

"A keep, good blood, lack of ambition and brave to boot. I seem to be the perfect candidate. Young Jennalynn appears to be a very good judge of character."
