During the war in the Stepstones, there was a keep being sieged by the Kings forces with help of the Riverlands Siege machines. The Keep was famous for its rocky caves and sharp rocks to where many ships have ended up badly damaged and sunk upon. Sharktooth Keep was in its second week of siege, food supplies started to run low; they couldn’t have much more left in them however they seemed to be getting a strange refreshment of morale causing them to fight harder. Harold thought this strange, no ships have been sighted for them to be refreshed with supplies, even if they were there was no way to get up into the Keep other than the main gates. Harold set one of his men to watch in a nearby town, and to collect information of anything came up about this siege. Soon, a man returns with information stating that there was one particular sailor who said too much and is being questioned now.
Steven Blackwood sits across from the man, who is now waking up after being abducted on his way home from the bar. Hungover and confused he questons where he is, and once he notices that he is restrained he begins to pull at the ropes and yell. Steven looks to him and sighs. "You best not be doing that now, you see you are no good to us without a tongue." He says as he begins to sharpen some daggers in front of him. The Sailor begins to yell but quiets as he sees the sharping of the blades. he speaks in common in a rich Volantese accent. "I know nothing, I am but a sailor!" He struggles eyeing the knives attempting to get out of the bonds. Steven whistles as he runs the blades over a Wetstone. "That's not what was heard last night....seems you have a loud mouth on you there. Seems you may know some things about that keep over there. About ships? A cave?" The Sailors eyes grew wide. "I...I no nothing!" He stutters. Steven shakes his head as he forces his hand flat on the wood of the arm rest and places the dagger over his index finger and presses into the skin. The Man screams again and mutters. "W....wait wait...I know something, the caves, there....there is a secret entrance.....to the Keep, they use rowboats to the caves and they sneak it up there." Steven smiles and nods, then stands and knocks out the sailor with a punch. "Good to know." He mutters.
Days later Harold sits down and looks over a map of the keep, he is loosing his machines and he is growing frustrated. He can not risk a frontal assault, its too risky. Just then a guardsman holding a letter Harold took it and read over the contents that was simply signed "The Raven" it told of the plans of the ships sneaking up supplies. Harold grabbed his sword and rushed out of the tent heading for the ships. As he was walking he said to him men. "Gather the war ships I have a plan." Harold did have a plan, he was unable to attack the ships head on as they probably had more numbers and sailors better trained then him, but he had the element of surprise, and Harold had the men equip the front of the ships with iron ram heads. They waited until nightfall, and the ships hid along the high rocks, it was foggy, there was no way they could navigate this without lights and so they hoped for that they would have their ships with lights.
Hours passed until they finally saw the lights of a ship. Harold waited, he saw movement of what could be a little ship and as soon as they were anchored they moved. Harold signaled advance the ship sailed from their hiding spots and Tully's Flagship rammed into the side of the Volantene Cargo Ship. Screaming was heard and yelling as people tried to board to fight and to get away from the sinking ship. A small victory, however Tully had not noticed the ships who went silent that were waiting for them, soon he say at least three ships being lit up on their decks and now sailing towards the fleet in wait to take the ambush by their own surprise. Harold gram the helm and ripped the ship from the sinking one and attempted to single his other ships who were around the cargo ship, however it was not fast enough as they were boarding the far warship. Harold was able to get another ship to follow them and make his way to the biggest of the three. There he and another ship was able to board the same ship at once, Harold made his way on deck of the Enemy ship as he made his way though the fighting to the helm. There he saw the Captain who rushed towards him, Harold took him head on as sword blows were made, but Harold making a quick kick to his chest sent the captain overboard and into the water. Harold made his way to the helm and aligned the rudder with the second Volantene ship and disabled the rudder chain and hoisted the sails, as the ship began to move Tully and his men made their way back on board the boats who could. Soon the sails picked up and the disabled ship ran right into the bow of the second ship sending them both down in a mess of wood. With that the final ship seeing his support was now on their way to the bottom of the sea surrendered their ship.
Harold taking the opportunity to take a rowboat to the hidden cave, found the information did not lie....there were months of supplies here. Enough to survive many more days of assault, and there was a clear opportunity to take the castle with the cave entrance. Harold left the cave to collect his men and the following morning ordered an assult on the main gates. With the new way into the keep, the battle was a victory with little causalities as they were able to infiltrate using their new entrance, and allow the gates to open. By the end of the day, Tully flags were waving over their new keep and their hard victory.
