Mace bowed his head, and he glanced at his father, "I quite agree. It is a family's duty to always save a spot by the hearth and a cup of wine. If you require warmth and an ear simply ask." He smiled at her.

"I shall. When I am more settled perhaps I will be able to issue an invitation to my brother's manse in the city, where I am staying. I think I make quite a good hostess."

Bertram nodded, "Yes it is always wise to announce your presence at court with a feast. When you have had time to prepare you should host one. I will make sure to attend."

"A feast...perhaps. But I was speaking of a private family dinner," she said. "After all, a feast would require a host, and my husband is dead and my brothers are far away. But we shall see."
