Tyrell poured her a glass of wine. "Besides my daughter Benedicta, I only have three sons. They are all well. One serves in the Night's watch, the others are both married and quite happy. And your family?" “Are you staying in King’s Landing then?” Doreah snuck a glance over to Aurane and the Braavosi woman, but quickly returned to the conversation at hand before he could catch her checking up on him. “That sounds lovely, Lord Betram. My family is quite well—my children are glad for a reason to leave home, and my husband’s brother has returned from the Vale after many years, so he is in high spirits."

Velina nooded, "I am indeed. I am here to speak as the sea lord to your King. It is a good position for me." She tilted her head to smile languidly at Aurane. "You think a woman not capable of such a career?"

"I am the master of coins, my duties keep me in the capital most times." Bertram replied, and then gave a knowing smile, "I had heard Tynian's return was quite a spectacle. Tears on both sides.... they say."

"You think a woman not capable of such a career?" "Oh, I don't think that, I am merely pleasantly surprised," Aurane answered, looking for some wine. "You must meet a lot of people who try and force a closer relationship upon you, so they may gain something from Braavos."

"I have met one or two, but must of you Andals do not seem to have much to truck with my beloved Braavos." She replied, "What do you hope to gain from Braavos?"

"I wouldn't know," Aurane replied self-deprecating. "I have never read much about Braavos; my father did not like books about foreign cultures being in his castle."

"I wouldn't know," Aurane replied self-deprecating. "I have never read much about Braavos; my father did not like books about foreign cultures being in his castle." Velenda tilted back her head and laughed, "Does he get sea sick? I have heard that lords who fear travel often think there is no worth to other lands."

Aurane laughed at that. "More like he hates whatever he cannot explain, which makes it a lot of things he hates." He paused. "I am curious; do you think perhaps you got your position due to your beauty?"

"That is one of the many tools in my arsenal. Not even the main one." Velenda replied. "I also have a silver tongue, and a cold heart." She purred for a moment, "And a few other tricks the Sea Lord approved of."

"A cold heart, how inconvenient," Aurane said with fake disappointment. "Perhaps you simply need someone to heat it up," He suggested, then laughed. "Or some such nonsense."

"Many men have tried, and so far they have all disappointed." Velenda replied, and crossed her legs again, "And I have absolutely no use for nonsense."

Auran tsked. "They must have not been trying hard enough," He stated. "As for myself, well, as a married man I can only imagine what it must be like to have fools run after you like blind hounds."

"I have seen one or two fools already in this kingdom. And I have only been in Westeros a very short time." She smiled knowingly at him.

"This place is full of fools," Aurane answered, looking away from a moment. He studied his wife, closed his eyes. Finally he looked back at the Braavosi. "What do you make of our city, apart from the men?"

Tears on both sides.... they say." Doreah recoiled from him, taking care not to allow what she felt flicker across her face and give away the game. “It was moving,” she retorted. The boy was overjoyed to be back with kin, and the family was relieved to receive him. These ten years apart had clearly been a trail for everyone.”
