Eirek entered the hall, more concerned with the whereabouts of Elyssa and Edric than with the gravitas of his entrance. This was his first major event as Lord of Winterfell, amongst the other lords of Westeros, and he was having some trouble keeping track of all the moving parts - specifically his younger kin. Eventually he spotted the two of them, coming up behind them and laying his hands on their shoulders.
"You shouldn't sneak off without supervision," He told them sternly, "Do you have any idea how many people are searching the Red Keep for you?"

Post by Lord Oswyn Baratheon on Sept 11, 2013 14:55:05 GMT -5
Amelia retreated to the Lannister group when she saw that Winnie and Doreah were still trading barbs. She felt protective of Doreah, and went back to stand beside her. She did not have the courage to speak against her mother, and in any case still longed for her mother's love, but she took Doreah's hand quietly and in her own small way, gave her support. Winnie did not notice this partiality on her daughter's part, however, because she was distracted by the entrance of a man who had been on her thoughts everyday since the wedding of the King and Rose Tyrell. He had become older now, like her, but unlike her he had become more attractive. Her heart leaped into her throat. She steadied herself by raising her wine cup to her lips with a trembling hand, and called, "Ser Oswyn! It is good to see you again." Why did I do that? she wondered. It was extremely forward for a lady to just hail over a man like that, as if they were both men-at-arms in a rowdy pub. She was horrified at her impulsive behavior. Oswyn glanced over, hearing the sound of his name in the crowded hall. He studied the source curiously for a moment, before recognition crossed his features. A wide grin warmed his dour expression as he strode over. "Lady Winifred." he said in greeting, narrowly avoiding the more informal Winnie. "I see your beauty is truly timeless." he lied through his teeth, trying in vain to see the beautiful woman he had crowned rather than the sad creature attempting to cheat the ravages of time.

"Perhaps not, but you should consider the responsibility that will one day weigh on you as Lord Paramount of the Far Reach. It will not do to be seen as humorous or light hearted when dealing with the lives of your subjects." Lorren countered. "But no doubt I am boring you. You would rather be looking for the lady to warm your bed tonight, no?" Ser Lorren's face revealed his scepticism that one was to be found at the feast. "Perhaps," Gwayne mused. "It's a little early yet. But I was rather hoping to make new friends first. Perhaps you should do likewise." He grinned, knowing it wasn't likely to happen.

Viea saw the people waving and moved slowly over. She didnt know who the people were. "Hello?" Lyselle looked the girl over and pursed her lips,"You are one of the Greyjoys, I saw you come in with your family." He put out her hand, to shake the girls. "I am Lyselle Tully." She noticed Aemon was talking to a young man with the Mallister colors on. She nudged him in the side and Aemon smiled at the man and excused himself. He turned towards the young girl and smiled kindly. Lyselle finally finished her sentence,"And this is my husband Aemon." Viea had been told before that Riverlanders never trrusted Islanders and her expression was confusion as they greeted her nicely. "I am." She said, shaking the offered hand then letting hers hang down her side, unsure what to do now. "It is nice to meet you?"

Lyselle noticed her confusion,"There is nothing to be afraid of child, Riverlanders and Ironborn can be cordial to each other."
Aemon butted in and smiled,"My wife would like you to believe that she is just being nice, but she has an agenda. Can you guess what it is?"

Lyssandra thought for a moment, "I never really thought about it. I just read whatever is around."
The Septa chimed in, "She likes to read about battles and wars. Quite unusual for a lady but we allow it. It is part of history after all and there are good examples to be learned from the stories."

He ignored her stares for a second to finish his answer,"She wants to plant a seed in your head that will hopefully bear fruit down the line. If she can show you in the span of this conversation that not all of us greenlanders are bad or mistrustful. Then maybe you will remember that in the future when your family inevitably destroys our houses and takes our food."

"He'll do well with our example, I'm sure" he replied distractedly as he looked across to his granddaughter surrounded by a flock of other noble children. He threw a scowl at her mother. Obviously her wilfulness wasn't being managed properly enough for his liking. Perhaps in Dorne all the women behaved like dockyard sluts, but a Lion of the Rock has higher standards to uphold. He tapped his foot with a frown, wondering whether to go over there and confront his daughter-in-law. He decided to leave things for now, wishing to conclude his business first. He turned back to Annara with a broad smile, his eyes lingering on her bodice as he feigned interest in something behind her. "Obedience is a trait I wished more children shared, Lady Annara. Perhaps then they would learn that their parents are only doing what was in their best interests, however they may interpret it at the time" he continued. "And friendship between near neighbours can only be a good thing for both our houses and who knows? It may lead to more, in time" "Perhaps it will," she agreed. "I very much agree there. And yes, children ought obey their parents. Fortunately my own children aren't too bad considering, but time will tell, I suppose. One of my daughters is a little naughty."

"I see your beauty is truly timeless." he lied through his teeth, trying in vain to see the beautiful woman he had crowned rather than the sad creature attempting to cheat the ravages of time. Winnie knew he was being gallant, and wished desperately that she could be as beautiful as Doreah for him. She moved ever so slightly to block her daughter-in-law - and Amelia, who she suddenly rememebered was betrothed him - from his view. "You look like you have been in some campaigns," she said, touching a scar on his arm, and then being alarmed at her own boldness again. But she could not resist. "I knew you would do well for yourself." Doreah could see things falling into place before her, however haphazardly, and she opted to take her chances and play on the offensive. She almost felt bad for Winnie, but she really should not have brought up ten years ago, then. She gracefully sidled around from Winnie, her hand still clasping Amelia’s and pulling the golden girl beside her. “Ser Oswyn Baratheon, it is such a pleasure to see you here today. I was only a girl when you unseated Petyr Lannister from his mount and won the King’s Tourney, but I can still remember it to this day. It was a terribly impressive display, as I’m sure you’ve heard countless times. I am Doreah Lannister.” She gave him one of her famous smiles, bordering almost too intimate, but not quite enough to make anyone feel justified in voicing discomfit rebuke. “And this beautiful child is Amelia, of course, your betrothed.”

"Why do you think that I would have the right place to be able to influence anyone at home?" Viea asked, genuinely curious. "And it is not just our family. There are others then just Greyjoy on the Islands."

Gerion nodded absently. Like his wife, it appeared Annara had mastered the art of saying nothing and taking a long time to do so. Anymore of this and he'd have happily jumped in and joined Aegon in his grave. He turned and bowed to Lady Annara and kissed her hand briefly "Forgive me, my lady. I forgot that I had urgent business elsewhere" like a tavern, preferably with a buxom & willing wench he thought "I'm sure young Lancel will prove a wonderful squire for Aurane" he smiled suddenly and made to leave.

The newly anointed Lord Stark had a sense of authority to him that Edric respected, although sometimes reluctantly. He was definitely not going to tell him about momentarily losing Elyssa at the festival the other day, though. To make sure she didn't either, he gave her a stern look before turning back to their brother. "I thought you would already be here. Where is Damin?" he inquired in an attempt to change the subject.

"Looking for you, same as I was. Or, knowing our brother, fighting someone over a perceived slight. He'll be along, I'm sure." Eirek took a seat next to his little brother. "No harm done, I suppose. But tell someone where you are headed, next time."
