Rules of the Game
Welcome to Lords of Westeros.
Players play as one character in a great house of Westeros. In this game players are members of the ruling house, whose lord is known as the Lord Paramount. The following regions are available:
North - House Stark
Riverlands - House Tully
Vale - House Royce
West - House Lannister
Stormlands - House Baratheon
Iron Islands - House Greyjoy
Dorne - House Martell
Far Reach* - House Hightower
*The Reach was split into 2 regions during LOWs earlier history. The Mander Reach comprises the northern part of the Mander is currently ruled by House Tyrell. It is not currently available for PCs. The Far Reach is the southern region of the Reach.
To play as a character please use the model used on this board in the appropriate (obviously labeled) thread, and apply.
This game has an emphasis on teamwork, family strategy and intrigue. If you betray your family you do so while risking your own neck and reputation (likely endangering both). Because you may start as a lowly knight seeking fame or glory you may wish to serve in possible campaigns. Also just as possible- you may be interested in serving as a Maester and rising through the ranks in the Citadel to become an Archmaester. You could just as easily just become a successful, legendary pickpocket in King's Landing.
The game is played through roleplaying posts in which two or more players collaborate to write a scene between their characters.
Additionally, longer individual stories can be created by players in order to develop their characters, and increase their skills. These posts are called 'scenarios' which are stories ranging anywhere from 2 paragraphs to 2 pages. These scenarios will be posted in the "Library" where all can read them. Scenarios will be judged on realism, quality and purpose. In addition, characters may gain skill in scenarios (such as if you are part of a major battle in which you take down several enemy combatants). Please see the thread entitled Scenarios for more details.
This is not to say that everything will be judged on realism...there are still skills. There are eight levels of mastery to a skill: beginner, novice, apprentice, noteworthy, expert, master, grandmaster, and legendary. Keep in mind that everyone starts from somewhere and anyone could potentially rise to legendary in any particular skill over time. There will also be the possibility to improve skills through good roleplay and also through successful rolling.
Speaking of time and as a quick note, one week passes per day. This is likely to increase as the game progresses, if the need arises.
Players may have 3 major characters, known as a first, second and third. See Character Creation for details on their skill levels. NPCs are also permitted. These are minor characters who will not be allowed to use skills. NPCs are for RP purposely only and are not intended as a tool to increase your own PCs' interests.
