The shady tree

A small inn in the city that is clean and bright.

Sam led Annara in and left her in the common room as he went to get a sample of his paintings that he had done while in the city.

[Marie]

She sat and waited with her guards, looking around curiously to see if there were any interesting patrons. She thought privately that her host ought to have bought drinks for herself and her escort before going to find his paintings.

It was all quite dull and safe in all truth

Sam returned quickly and sat with her. "Is it a place suitable for a lady?" He asked.

[Marie]

"Yes, it's pleasant enough," she said in a tone which indicated there were better inns. "Tt serves. So, will you show me the painting?"

[Viea Greyjoy]

In reply Sam pushed the pad to her.

It was filled with bright doodles, some of people, some of other things.

[Marie]

She looked over it with interest, pausing over some pictures.

"You do good work. Do you have any formal portraits?"

[Viea Greyjoy]

"It is my hobby, not my lifestyle." He answered

[Marie]

"I know, but I thought you might have done a portrait of a family member<" she said. "I'm not expert on these matters."

[Viea Greyjoy]

He waved his hand dismissively. "My sister is married and I am alone until I marry and father a family." He said. "There is no family to do a portrait of."

[Marie]

"You could have visited your sister and painted her," Annara said gently. "But that is for your own judgement, of course. I just want to be sure I am asking the right man."

[Viea Greyjoy]

"I could but Maria is very involved in her own family now." Sam answered delicately. "It is down to you if you are asking the right person, its not how the painter paints sometimes, but how you feel about the person that you will be spending time with as they paint you for hours."

[Marie]

"Hours?" Annara frowned. "It won't take up all my time, will it? It will need to be a secret, and my husband is likely to notice long absences."

[Viea Greyjoy]

"Not all." He answered. "But you need to be sat still as all the colours and the shanding is made correct."

He paused

"That is of course if you wish it to at least decent."

[Marie]

"Oh, yes. Of course I do. We can discuss that, of course. It needn't be a large portrait," she said.
