Aurane had been scared of his fathers' sudden change of mood; lavishing praise on the boy. When Tynian had received his praise, he had wanted to stop his father but couldn't. He tried to run and help Tynian and fortunately the servants swiftly helped the two boys out of the room. Aurane put an arm around his brother, though it was awkward.

Gerion smiled cruelly "Heh, it might be a valuable life lesson for them. Seeing what all women are, truly. Oh, you pretend to be coy and demure when it suits you, like a mask you can take off and on at will. And I fell for it at first" he continues, clearly not talking about Winifred at all, but at some old trauma. "You bat your eyelids, string people along and then mock them!" he punched her again, this time high in the chest, glancing against her breastbone.
"Well I finally figured it out!" he said softly, leaning in close to his wife, enjoying her fear and his power over her. He was so close she could have spat in his face, bit him or screamed the place down but he knew she would do none of those things. "You're no puzzle at all! No riddle to solve, no mystery to unravel. Just a bunch of sluts and whores!" he grabbed her roughly on both arms and squeezed. "But there's one thing sluts and whores are good for" he said, now visibly aroused, as she could feel him pressed against her. "Now you're doing to do your wifely duties and maybe, maybe you'll please me if you do it well enough" he said, almost at a whisper.

"You'd better, or I'll get really angry" he slowly pushed her to her knees and looked down with an ugly smile on his face as she got to work.

He tried to run and help Tynian and fortunately the servants swiftly helped the two boys out of the room. Aurane put an arm around his brother, though it was awkward. Tynian sniffed and rubbed his nose on his sleeve. "Why does papa hate me so much, aury? I try my best" he sobbed, clutching his older brother's hand desperately as he looked back in fear from their parent's bedroom. From the noises coming out the fighting was carrying on but a bit different, he thought.

Aurane looked down at his brother and squeezed his hand, slowly leading him away from the door.
"I don't know, Ty," He said quietly, wishing he had an answer. "I don't think father likes anyone..."

Tynian look confused, because he knew papa never hit Aurane. "What do I do then? I want papa to love me" he started to cry again.

"Shhh, Ty, father will hear," Aurane replied, pulling his brother closer to him and giving him a hug. "Stay out of his way and you will be safe."

Tynian nodded and tried to stifle his tears as he slowly limped back to his quarters. "It's easier for you, aury. You're older" he said accusingly as if it was his brother's fault he was older than him

Aurane bit of his response, afraid he would sound like his father. He had almost told Tynain to show that he was strong, to show that he could deal with things; he had almost said for his little brother to be a man.
With a shudder, Aurane pushed Tynian into their joint bedroom. "Just go to bed, Ty. If you want we can tell each other stories."

Tynian nodded miserably, hoping tomorrow would be better but knowing somehow it wouldn't. His brother towered over him as they entered their rooms, and he was briefly afraid again, running and leaping into bed and burrowing under the covers. "Can it be the one with Selwyn and the Mirror Shield?" he said eagerly, picking one of his favourite stories, as the hero won because he was clever, not just strong.

"Of course," Aurane said, waiting until Tynian was settled (and getting into his own bed) before beginning.
"The most beautiful lady in the lands was Princess Daeryssa. This is many, many years ago, when Wall was only put up." He paused, licked his lips. "Well, Princess Daeryssa went out riding one day on her white steed, when out of nowhere the Giants came. There were three of them and together they killed Daeryssa's horses and took her back to their hill. Giants live on hills, where they build small camps." He picked up a cup of water and drank.
"The giants had tied the princess up and were pulling the horse apart and putting it on a fire to eat. The smell of the burning horse wafted through the air to a spot many miles away, where Serwyn the knight was riding. Serwyn smelled the burning horse and knew what it meant, because everyone knew about what Giants do."
Aurane looked to see if Tynian was still awake, then continued. "So Serwyn rode up to the hill, his sword in his scabbard and his mirror shield on his arm. When he was not far away and could see the giants he spotted the princess and knew that he would have to save her. It was still day and so Serwyn came up with a plan. He raised his shield and the sun reflected off it, casting light into one of the Giants eyes. He did it again and again and all three giants were blinded. Next Serwyn ran between them and he did it loud, so the Giants would hear. They were angry and swung their clubs around but Serwyn avoided them and the Giants hit each other instead. First one Giant fell, then another and finally the last, who had hit himself in the head with his club."
Aurane grinned and paused for effect. "Serwyn then rescued the princess and brought her back to his castle, where they married."

Tynian's eyes got heavier as his brother's voice carried on and slowly they closed. He tried to fight to stay awake but soon he was fast asleep, the worry gone from his face for now. ooc: nice story. Good work

Aurane's face became sad as he watched his brother sleep. He turned the only burning candle out and wrapped his blankets around himself. Then he began to cry.

Aurane came back from the joust, disappointed that his knight Ser Leonard had not done better. He thought about if he had secured his armour enough, or if there had been a problem with the horse. And then even Ser Petyr hadn't even won, which made his mood even worse.

"Nothing," He replied, not in the mood to be talking to anyone. "I just want to play with the dogs."
