Doreah couldn't help but feel excited as she realized the handsome but formidable-seeming man was none other than the Lord Royce. Apparently the Royces were civilized enough for the mean woman to exercise some air of proper courtesy. She would show her how well-bred she could be.
"Lord Royce, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance," she began with well-moderated, winning smile. "I am Doreah Martell. I have heard and much and more about your family. My mother speaks most highly of you."
Doreah wondered if this woman--Lady Lannister, that explained much--'s son could possibly be as horrendously unpleasant as his mother. Such a thing seemed impossible, in all truth.
She glanced over to the strange man who had given her the flower to see if he would finally introduce himself. She flashed him a half-smile of encouragement, and continued to hold the flower awkwardly in one hand.

"So he is," Bayard replies to Winifred with a father's smile, "Eight years old and ready to conquer the world."
He turns back to his young cousin, Doreah. "Then it is a pleasure to meet you, my dear. I trust your family is well?"

From behind a hedge Aurane appeared, some mud smeared on his breeches. He had been so in his own thoughts that he hadn't noticed the sudden gathering of nobles. When he spotted them he stood stock still.
"Oh..."

"They are quite well. I have heard the the Vale and it's Eyrie is a sight like no other, Lord Royce. I hope to become well-acquainted with yours, and perhaps see the sight myself some day." She smiled at him innocuously, absentmindedly twirling the flower through her fingers.
"And yours also, Lady Lannister, if they are anything as charming as yourself." She bowed her head.

Aurane quickly made his way to the group, hoping he would not look like a fool. "Hello my Princess, and lord and ser," He said, hoping he had chosen the right order. He bowed his head to each but couldn't help but let his eyes linger on the Dornish girl.

She smiled at him innocuously, absentmindedly twirling the flower through her fingers. "Yes," Lord Royce says with a certain dry humor, "I have heard it is quite a sight as well." "A pleasure to meet you, Aurane. Will you be squiring for one of the knights in the tournament?" Royce asks good-naturedly.

"I hope so, lord Bayard," Aurane replied, almost staring at the man. He'd never met a blind person before and knew he couldn't see him stare, but then maybe somehow he could. Aurane quickly looked at the floow. "I am squire to Ser Leonard Brax, but I am not sure if he will be riding."

Doreah met the boy's gaze boldly. Could this really be the horrible Lannister woman's son? He didn't look nearly half as disagreeable upon first sight. Her eyes trailed along his muddy breeches before she managed to pull them away. Had he been been...digging through the bushes?
She snapped back to herself when she heard Lord Royce's response to her. He was blind......and she had said all that blabbering nonsense about beautiful sights. What. A. Fool. She mentally chastised herself, fuming. Perhaps she wasn't ready for this after all. She had botched it all up already!
She turned her attention to the boy to distract herself from her abject failure. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am Doreah Martell." it was all she could manage in her distraction.
OOC: I edited to catch up!

Aurane's gaze turned back to the girl and he grinned. "I am Aurane Lannister! I like your name! Martells rule Dorne, don't they? I read a lot of books about Dorne." He stopped, wondering if she cared.

"Then I wish luck to you and Ser Leonard, should he compete," Bayard says, politely disinterested in the child. "My eldest is a squire as well. I shall tell him to introduce himself to you, once I find where he has run off to."
Turning back to Lady Lannister, "In that case, shall I make the introduction?" He offers his arm to Winifred. "She was catching up with a few friends from her youth inside."

"Thank you, lord Royce," Aurane quickly said to Bayard, not trusting himself to look at the man. "I will be happy to meet yours son."

"Yes, we do." She taken aback my his enthusiasm. "What kind of books? I can answer any questions for you if you like? This is my first time in King's Landing. It's very nice," she lied.
Doreah was rather put-out by being obviously dismissed by the Lord Royce, but at least she had someone else to talk to now who hopefully wouldn't bore her ears off. What could he have been looking for in the dirt?

"Um... just ones my father makes me read... about history and battles and such..." Aurane replied, his voice sounding less enthusiastic. He thought the girl was pretty but then he had never really spoken to any girls, so he just stood there, suddenly aware of what was happening.
A girl.

"Oh," Doreah replied, realizing he wasn't actually interested. Well he was just missing out then--as if his smelly city could ever compare to Sunspear!
"I like reading about battles too, but only in my spare time. What else do you like doing?" She could see this was was going to need a little help, and she didn't mind helping those in need--not at all.
She resisted the urge to stick her tongue out at Lady Lannister as she trotted away on that tiny hinney of hers.
Aurane was rather pretty, she had to admit.

Lord Bayard seems to remember the way, though the way he uses his bronze cane is unusual to watch. Rather than leaning on it like an old man, he holds it down and to the front of him, swinging it back and forth and tapping the ground at intervals. Any servants in his way swiftly spring out of it. Regardless of his methods, the Bayard moves with surprising confidence and grace. His manservant follows behind.
