As it happened, Annara saw the man looking at her. She gave him a long scrutiny, though it was impossible to tell whether she approved what she saw, and then she, very slowly, started towards Winifred and Kara. She smiled, feigning hesitancy as she waited to see if either would acknowledge her.

Kara gave Winifred a puzzled look. "Of course, it's a wedding. That's half the fun, isn't it?" She smiled. "Though they make it rather strong these days, don't they? I swear the wine I drank as a kid wasn't half this good." Lady Royce's laugh seemed a mite too loud for the woman it came out of, but was charming in its own way. She caught sight of Lady Hightower and beckoned her closer with the sociability best achieved by the tipsy. "Hello there. I'm Kara Royce, and this is Lady... what was your first name, dear?"
Bayard seemed to pay his wife little mind. "He seemed a well-mannered boy," Royce replies to Gerion, "Do you have any other children?"

The king entered the hall and slowly made his way to his throne. He sat and barked out an order for wine. Before the servant had even returned the king was snoring loudly. His head tucked down over his chest.

Gerion had to draw his gaze away from Annara Hightower as he responded and as he replied, he still caught her eye, smiling as he did so. "I do have one other son, Lord Royce. But he's a bit of a disappointment to me. I suppose every family has a black sheep or two" he paused for a moment, trying to remember if any Houses in Westeros had sheep sigils and failed. "The best I can hope for him is that he'll make a good alliance, preferably with some faraway House so that I don't have to clap my eyes on him anymore. My wife was ill when she had him you know, throwing up every morning for months. It wasn't like that with Aurane" he glanced accusingly across at his wife briefly, before returning his gaze to Annara.

When Jen entered she looked around at the clumps of people, then steers clear of the women that she had met earlier, finding herself near the black brothers.
"Good day." She said to them politely. Finding a drink and drinking it.

Annara smiled as she glided over to the group.
"Good evening," she said, very politely. "Perhaps I might trespass on the nature of the company? I should so like to make new friends."

Gerion's right hand twitched for a moment as he stifled his immediate impulse to chastise his wife, remembering where they were especially with the King present. "I think what you meant to say was that you ride a horse like you're trying to hop over a barrel, my dear" he leaned in close to her and grabbed her arm, though not with his usual ferocity and whispered "Do you have any fucking idea how much a hunt would cost to entertain every noble in the realm at such short notice, you stupid cow!"
He turned to the others and said; "Forgive my wife, my lords and ladies. She's a bit overcome with wine herself" though it was clear she'd had not a drop "and spoke out of turn"

Ser Benfry looked up at her, "You will not hear me making such a false claim. All true men know that Weddings, not funerals, are the days of true and utter tragedy." He bowed his head to hear, "We here drink to the recently departed in the hope that he can escape a fate worse then death itself." He smiled at her and then winked just slightly.

"How unfortunate," Bayard replies to Gerion. "But perhaps he is not completely hopeless. Some boys benefit from a change of scenery. Have you ever considered fostering him out for a few years?"
"The more the merrier," Kara says. "And a hunt, is it? I am not very good at hunting I'm afraid, but I do love the falcons."

Jen decided that she was more at home with this group so smiled and sat.
"Ah yes, a promise to be faithful forever as if that ever works." She said. "Must be much simpler on your wall of ice."

Ser Hugh spoke slowly, "Well actually the wall is really quite intricate. It took us forty years to repair the damage left by the Long Winter. The.. The..." Hugh trailed off, and his cheeks reddened as he actually looked at the beautiful woman.

"Ah yes, the winter that can never be forgotten in these lands." Jen said. She found another drink. "I dont think that I could do the amount of work that you are said to do up there."

"Ah, I wouldn't dare inflict him on another House in his current state, Lord Royce. He shames me enough without the realm seeing what a weakling he's becoming" he glared at his wife, clear on where the blame lay with that statement. He regained his composure once more, though his smile was a bit fixed when his wife openly accused him of being miserly. His fist clenched behind his back as he replied to Lady Royce. "I prefer them too, my Lady. Graceful, beautiful and yet deadly. They require a firm hand however, to fly back to the wrist. Do you have a firm hand?" he enquired, with a slight smile.

Ser Benfry chuckled, "No that is left to Builders like Hugh. The rest of us just have daily feasts, and tournaments. Do you have any sons who fancy the Black?" He smiled at her warmly.

"I doubt that he would be allowed, at least not until he and his father fall out, which is inevitable at some point." Jen said with a smile.
