Robb wiped his hands on the leather apron. He hadn't been doing much work in the forge this morning, merely making sure that the fire in the forge didn't go out so that the blacksmith wouldn't have to restart a cold forge when the man returned from whereever it was he went most mornings.

Mariya stood in the doorway somewhat hesitantly.
"Hello," she said. "Do you have a moment?"

Robb looked up from where he was standing. He quickly wiped his hands some more on the back of his tunic as he heard the female voice from the door-opening. He hadn't expected that there would be anyone coming here at this time, since most knew that the blacksmith was away at this hour. He bowed deeply and offered Mariya a smile when he came toward her.
"How may I be of service, my lady. The blacksmith isn't here right now, so if there is something you want his help with, I guess you should return in a couple of hours."

"Oh. Perhaps I should," she said. "Unless you can help? Are you his apprentice?"

Robb wasn't suprised that Mariya didn't recognize him, he was wearing different clothes than he usually was, and having keep look on the fire he probably had soot all over him.
"No, I just like it down here and I offered to keep an eye on the forge while he takes care of an errand, so that the fire don't die while he is away. You don't recognize me do you, Lady Mariya. It's me, Robb Marbrand."

"Oh, So it is," she said with a little laugh. "Hello, Robb. I didn't know you were in the habit of staying down here. Most boys of noble birth wouldn't be seen dead in the forge for more than five minutes. But do you help out though?"

Robb wasn't really sure how he should respond to that. He did know his way around the forge and had picked up a lot from just spending time down here, but he wasn't too sure on how much he should tell Mariya about what he did down here, this was the blacksmith's place after all.
"I find that there is a calmness down here, that is hard to find anywhere else. Being so close to the fire and metal, you need to concentrate on that alone or else things will go wrong. As to answer your question, Lady Mariya, I do help with the fire around here, but this is not my forge so I can't help you with anything without the smith present." he said truthfully, regreting his words immidiately after he said them. "Though maybe you can tell me what you came here for and I'll tell him that you were here?"

"Oh. Yes. I wondered if he would be willing to smith a new longsword," she said.

Robb nodded with a smile. He was sure that the blacksmith wouldn't have any problems smithing a longsword for Lady Mariya, though he knew that it would take it's time, especially with the workload that he had.
"I will tell him, Lady Mariya. Do you have any special wishes concerning the blade that he should know about?"

"I would like the sigil of House Rowan etched into the pommel if possible," she said. "But it should otherwise be a plain blade, and serviceable. Will I need to come back to test the weight and so forth?"

Robb nodded.
"I am sure that won't be a problem, Lady Mariya. I will tell the blacksmith about your wishes. I think he have a couple of swords here now if you would like to test the weight and I'll make a note about the weight and so, that way you don't have to bother and take time to return here before the sword is finished."

"Of course. I'd like that," she said. "Weight, and reach too. Both will be important."
She smiled at him.

Robb nodded and returned her smile, though she could see that he felt a bit embarressed around her like he was nervous around her.
"Follow me, and let us see what there is here." he said and showed her to follow her to the side, where the blacksmith kept a array of practice swords that they had made. They worked well to learn about weight and reach, at least that was the blacksmith had told Robb one morning.
"Take a random sword and we'll work from there." he said with a nervous smile.

She picked one up that looked about the same as her current sword, hefted it, did a few passes in the air.
"It's too light," she said. "But I like the look of this one. It's nice and slender, and it has clean lines."
