Nym frowned then looked up at Mariya thoughtfully, she knew that she had been right.

"I have my own opinions about the risks, but I doubt you'd be so interested." Finn replied with a shrug. Mox looked back at Finn, and said, "Well done. The tone, the words." He bowed his head, "Go on then." "I think your profile is too high, if you'll forgive the pun. Too often men become vicious and back-biting because they were not promised the choicest cut. They forget that it was you, not they, who brought down the stag. I think you have too many allies. Too many men on your side is as bad as not enough. They will squabble amongst themselves for pride of place, and grow resentful, or failing that they will grow relationships tightly among themselves and cutting out the Hightowers will be seen as the next step towards power, since you possess the only titles and positions of power still worth lusting after and dividing amongst themselves. And I think your heirs know too much comfort. I'm not sure they'll understand men who have nothing to lose. They will remember only some pleasant words exchanged in one of Maester Lymon's classes, and forget that many of the children are here because their families are atainted and could not be trusted." Finn shrugged, "But then I am said to be very dour and to only see the worst in people."

Mox looked at him, "That has a practiced feel." He cut his meat, "Come to my office tomorrow."

Jothos also looks at Lara, and observes the little scene unfolding between her, Mariya and little William Mallister. "Oh ho ho!" he exclaims to Gregor with a gleefully scandalous tone. "It looks like Mariya has a soft spot for William Mallister!" His smile faded back to confusion. "I don't think that's anything to do with her being on the top table though - that one's still a mystery." "Mariya has a soft spot for everyone." Gregor replied "We will find out why she is up there as soon as we can pry Lara from the high table."

"Mariya has a soft spot for everyone." Gregor replied "We will find out why she is up there as soon as we can pry Lara from the high table." "I'd like to offer a wager - but I cannot think of suitable terms," Jothos said sadly. "We shall wait for dear Lara."

After demolishing two plates of food, Dunnock slows down, pensively chewing on a loaf of bread while examining the people around him more carefully.
The lord was easy to spot by where he sat and how everyone looked at him. That must be his wife beside him. Dunnock marked the other adults as advisors. They couldn't be bannerlords, because they didn't have their own colors. Six kids. The four with the towers were probably the Lord's kids. Good faces to remember. The other two he guessed were wards, even though most of the wards were at the lower tables. Maybe these were the not-hostage kind, or were marrying the lord's kids. That would make sense. The girl looked nervous but the boy didn't.

Mariya turned to Michael.
"How are you, Michael? I haven't spoken to you in ages."
She smiled warmly at him.

William finds a spot in the back, deciding against leaving knowing that his suspicions could be just suspicions. He leans on a back wall waiting for Lord Hightower to speak.

"Good. Um..."
She tried to think of something to say. She didn't want to sit in awkward silence any more.
"How is your sword work?"
