"I don't really know Gregor, I'll admit it has me stumped. I would imagine there is a certain amount of gratitude towards Varner given his recent exploits, but Mariya? Something must be afoot." He took a sip of wine and sat back, his musing complete but ultimately inconclusive. "I agree but what? It irks me that we don't know!" He paused in thought. "Perhaps we can ask Lara, she will tell us if she knows." Gregor replied looking directly at Lara.

Lara waves at Willem, "Are you sure... it seems a simple question." She sat back down, "He is a nice enough boy. His feelings will be hurt."

William waves back slowly, slightly worried and wondering if he should walk over or not.

"I suppose so. But it can never happen. He's younger than me...and there's other reasons too," Mariya sighed.

Lara said, "Oh... you keeping secrets now? Are they dreadful? Did you kill a man? Was he related to Mallister? You are right that would never work."

"Please Lara, stop it. I can't tell you." Lara said, "Is it the whole thing with Finn?"

Dunnock Keath enters the great hall and finds a place with his back to the wall where he has a view of most of the room. He is wearing the clothes he arrived at Oldtown in, slightly dusty from the road -- a grey doublet with yellow thread, probably meant to approximate silver and gold.
Dunnock watches the hundreds of unfamiliar faces warily, but when the food arrives he attacks it with an almost animal hunger.

Maerys entered, he was wearing his best clothing. A purple doublet with a silver shooting star in the corner, he sat down at a table and grabbed a plate.

"No...Its just another thing to study in my free time" He says with a sigh. "I am sorry I did not mean to make you uncomfortable, perhaps I should move." "No William." Nym giggled. "It is forgotten already."

"Not what I asked?" Mox looked up his eyes taking in all of Finn. They seemed to dry to be human, "What have you observed about the future generation?" Finn frowned sheepishly, "I'm sorry," he said, "I thought you meant why had I observed that it was the future..." He shook his head, embarrassed. "They are children still, mostly," he said, "Most of them are petulant. Some have accepted their position as hostages and have buried themselves so deeply in books they will never get out. Others have absolutely no concept of the events weighing on them, and they care only of their own childish wants," Finn sniffed. "Some of them have backbones which might prove a worth trait if it were coupled with some sense."
