Malcolm had just turned down the corner the coffin motel was on when the man in the strange hat came running out with a little girl in his arms. With the screeching voice of the electronic concierge echoing in the street, it only took a split second to figure out what had happened. He drew his revolver and charged after them into the alley, intent on catching his fleeing payday.

The klaxon screaming caused Sam to turn around, which helped him notice the massive man, with a pistol nearly the length of Sam's forearm clutched in his grip. It was a familiar face from the security video.

Sam ran. He took off down the alley at full speed. He cradled her as close as he could to his chest. He sprinted full out, and took the first turn. He knew this area well, and in his mind he was already planning a route through the undercity.

Malcolm sprinted after his quarry, with the knowledge that he was as good as dead if they got away pounding in his brain. He briefly considered shooting the thief, but couldn't risk it with the little girl in his arms. The round was just as likely to pass through them both. So he ran, trying to catch up. He was in the physical shape expected from a lifelong soldier and wasn't encumbered with someone else in his arms.

Sam could tell he was not pulling away from the pursuing man, even after Malcom yelped when his back began hurting him something fierce. It was a stalemate.

Malcolm activated the painkiller loaded nanobots coursing through his blood stream and surged forward, eager to close the distance.

Malcom was beginning to catch up as Sam adjusted his grip on the child and dove down an alleyway, breaking the line of sight.

Sam knew exactly where he must go suddenly, and kept running. He took his first left, and then an almost immediate right. Then ran down one long alley before bursting out on the Bay Street.
The sun had risen and with it had come pedestrians. He held the girl close, and ran down the street screaming, "Oh my god he has a gun. Help... some one he has a gun." He pointed back over his shoulder toward the alley and ran up the street. There was a time for shadows, and then there was also a time to run blindly down a street screaming for help like a maniac.

Malcolm exited the alley onto Bay Street in hot pursuit. He barreled his way through the pedestrians in his way, trying not to lose his quarry in the crowd. At the man's shouting, he grinned thinking that two could play that game.
"He's got my daughter!" he shouted, "Somebody stop him!"

No one hears Malcom's retort. Whether they give a damn for Sam's plight or not, (They don't) the yell "he's got a gun" tends to get attention. People start fleeing in every direction, although Malcom notices three men who draw their own weapons, and start scanning the area.
One of them spots Malcom, and raises his weapon.

Malcolm sees the situation rapidly deteriorating and raises his Warhawk to fire at the man drawing a bead on him. The servos and dampeners in his cybernetic arm absorb the massive recoil from the revolver, allowing him to switch and fire between the three targets in rapid succession with little to no muzzle rise.

Screams broke out again as Malcom blazed away into the crowd, killing all three men before they could complete their action.
When he turned back to his target, Sam was blended into the crowd of bodies running the opposite direction.

Sam kept running, glad he had left his coat and hat behind in that alley hours ago. He ran with the other people running from the maniac with a gun. When he gets to a turn, he flows with the crowd around a corner still running.

For awhile Sam thought he had lost the maniacal gunman, until he realized he had run almost head long into one of the woman from the bus, the one who dressed like a stripper. Only now she had a drop-leg holster on her leg with a pistol in, and looked majorly pissed.

"Watch it!" Natasha snarled, glancing briefly at Sam before double taking. "Hey... don't I know you?" She asked, her eyes softening a bit.
