"I am not a dog at all," Finn said with a laugh, "I am a weasel." he thumbed his cloak pin which featured his arms, "I do not know if you are as much of a ferreter as you are a dog-handler, although a man good with animals is usually a man good with animals, in my experience."
Finn raised his eyes and couldn't help but put his hand near the stock of his crossbow. "This is good luck," Finn said, scanning the territory around them, half expecting a lion to jump out at any moment.

Anthony said, "Don't be afraid unless these lions are flying the dogs will scent them first."

Finn nodded firmly. "So why do you take to the kennels all day if I may ask? Dogs are good, better than people I suspect but I am curious why you spend all your time with them?"

"Can't hold a sword properly. All the tutors think I am suited to be a jester. All my peers think I am too weird or useless to talk to." Anthony said with a stark honesty, "But I am good with dogs."

"I am not one for a sword myself, so I can't speak there, but you seem to have a find appreciation for human nature, and as swift a tongue as any. So why do you let them think you enfeebled?"

"I can't lie. If I think a girl ugly I will say so. Or something is wrong I will not hold my tongue." Anthony replied.

"There's a place for that," Finn said, "And you're not your father's heir anyway, so I don't see why it should be so problematic as that. We younger sons," He gestured at Anthony and himself, should have a free rein, it seems to me."

"Our fathers... or least my father would disagree." Anthony replied. "Especially after his regular disappointment with me."

"My father is not around to disagree, so I suppose that is an advantage I have over you," Finn said with a slightly frown, "perhaps if this hunt is a success, he will have something to be pleased about?"

Anthony shook his head and was about to reply when there was a loud scream from up ahead. The other two men had just disappeared behind the heavy foliage.

Finn readied the crossbow and loaded a quarrel, "The Dogs?" He asked, asking Anthony if the beasts had given any sign of their quarry.

The Dogs had started gong mad at the scream. Lunging at the leashes, and pulling Anthony to the ground. They dragged him across the dirt of the forest.

Finn, by no stretch of imagination a brave man, hurried after, if for no other reason than fear he's be left behind.

Finn watched as two dogs ripped free from Anthony, and ran into the woods. With only one dog Anthony slowly came to lie in a tangled heap. The dogs still bayed from just out of sight.

"What's going on?" Finn said, "Someone could have broken their leg... or," Finn tried to come up with another scenario that didn't involve someone being eaten by a lion.
He yanked Anthony to his feet.
