They traveled north in a long line. The woods slow their path, but they keep at it. Three days go by, and there is no sign of anything but the regular wildlife of the wild.

Domeric ordered the men to spread out on an echelon to cover more distance across, and see if they could find any sign of Wildling movement.

On the dawn of the third day to the south east there is a plume of smoke that should not be seen from the distance it is at.

Domeric ordered the column to come to a halt, as he examined the smoke. Short of all of East Watch being on fire, he wasn't quite sure what would make a pillar of smoke and flame of that size.
He ordered the men to double time it in the direct of the blaze.

They began marching in that direction, and soon brought to a halt when a single arrow is launched out of the underbrush at one of the mounted men. The men draw bows, and drop from their saddles. Arrows returned fire at the location quickly.

Being unaware of exactly what kind of force they were dealing with, Domeric ordered five of his men to flank to the left, and see how far the enemy line extended. Were they dealing with five wildlings or five hundred? The rest of the men continued to fire their bows to keep the enemy distracted as their flanking attempt began.

the men quickly scout out that there are no more then five or six men, and they are in full retreat.

"Half of you, continue to provide cover with arrows. The rest of us, let's riide them down," Domeric instructed as he remounted, moving forward rapidly to confront the wildlings.

The men follow the commands near perfectly. Three wildlings were run down by the brothers. Not a single man of the black was lost.

Pleased with this Domeric ordered the men to proceed, but cautiously. That was most likely some kind of rear guard, and there was like to be more Wildlings about.

The Night's watch moved cautiously forward. The smoke grows thicker in the distance, and small hazes of smoke begin to roll along the ground at the advancing force obscuring vision.

Domeric ordered his men to dismount, and approach cautiously on foot. He tried to work his way forward to where he could get some view of what had caused the great blaze, or indeed, how many fires there were.

As they approached closer through the thick wood. They had to slow for the sound of voices could be heard ahead. The voices quieted as the Black Brother's approached.

Domeric drew his sword and motioned for the others to do likewise.
