1) Character Name: Lord Dudley Marbrand
2) Character Age: b. 520
3) Character Nationality: The Westerlands
4) Character Byname: None
5) Character Skills: Expert: Politics Noteworthy: Horsemanship Noteworthy: Lance Apprentice: Stewardship Apprentice: Swordsmanship Novice: Intrigue Novice: Leadership Beginner: Chivalry
6) Character's Second: Ser Steffen Lannister, known as The Worm
7) Character History: Dudley was born into a period of strife - A winter full of wars. As such, his younger years were spent as the worried son of an average man who was often at war with the other Western Lords. When the Basilisk Invasion came in the mid-520s, the region Dudley had always known as home was devastated, and with it, the family he had grown up in. His father, Lord Johan and most of the other men in the family, his uncles, 'The Twins of Ashemark' - were all lost. At the age of nine, he found himself fostered at Casterly Rock, which itself had not escaped the war without considerable damage. He and his elder sister spent two uncertain years here, not treated unkindly, but with a certain amount of indifference. Nobody seemed to want to take responsibilty for this young lord from a broken household - nobody that was, until the man derisorily known as 'the worm' came to House Marbrand's aid.
Marrying Dudley's sister Annette seemed at first a sinister move to the young man. It scared him somewhat that suddenly this man with such a dishonourable reputation was going to shape their lives in such a fashion. He was young however, and gradually began to see a side to this Steffen Lannister which was not talked about - a side that was caring, in a disfunctional way. He was tender in his treatment of Annette and never too pushy. She too began to see his better side, beginning to trust him and put him in place as her ideal male rolemodel. And so for years, the family matured into an unconventional but cohesive unit, Steffen effectively taking on the 'head of house' role despite only being the Lord's goodbrother.
The family grew even larger a short time later, with the arrival of Steffen's semi-estranged daughter Alessa and her children, Lyonel and Monterys - the heir to house Velaryon - now in their early teens. These additions livened up the atmosphere at Ashemark considerably, becoming the frequent haunt of visiting noble socialites and singers due to it's suddenly high concentration of highborn notables.
Dudley grew very friendly with Monterys Velaryon as the two grew older together. He found that they both had common ground with their common aims in life - of course unknowing that these aims were subconsciously hoisted upon them by their goodbrother/grandfather's style of 'parenting'. Whilst being friends, the two were oft-times rivals; fighting in the yard, riding on horses, even contending for the attentions of girls. This was simply a manifestation of either boy's ambition however - for they never shared any true animosity.
And so the years passed, Lord Dudley gradually becoming what was expected of him, with help and constant advice from Steffen. At age 13 he squired for am aging Westerling knight, earning his knighthood at age 15. He married Lady Jean Turnberry, a pretty maid of the small house in 537, again, from Steffen's advice. It seemed that certain houses ranked high in Steffen's mind, and he did all he could to please members of such. Dudley often noted that he treated others with indifference or disregard. The Turnberrys were clearly on his primary list, although for what reason, Dudley could not say.
The Lord's first child was quick in coming - a daughter, Ruth, born later in the year he and Jean were married. As happy as the couple were at the time, this seems to have brought an end to the couple's childbearing days, although no-one can say why. It is a matter for some concern at Ashemark that Jean has not given birth for eight years, and Lord Dudley is known to be more than a little frustrated.
Now in his mid-twenties, Dudley finds himself taking ever-increasing charge of Marbrand affairs as Steffen Lannister grows older and seemingly less imposing. He is a man of only moderate knightly skill, with more of a passion for words and their impact. He has a fairly large circle of friends, although few other than those he has grown up with would actually profess to like him that much.
8) Character Physical Description: Much like his sister Annette, Dudley is freckly, palefaced and redhaired. He has small green eyes which give him a curious expression. His beard is full, but of fine hair. His colouring lends him towards brown clothing, which he often wears proudly adorned with the burning tree of his house. He really has nothing notable about his physique - he is of a very average build and height.
9) Character Reputation: Being a Lord, Dudley is known to many. He never shirks his Lordly duties, treating with other Lords and his serfs well enough but without ever expressing too much compassion. Some know him as a flatterer, but those without power or posessions do not see this side of him.

5) Character Skills: Expert: Battle Noteworthy: Spear-fighting Noteworthy: Archery Apprentice: Intrigue Apprentice: Horse-riding Novice: Poison Lore Novice: Persuasion Beginner: Survival (Dorne) Beginner: Stealth
6) Character’s Second: "Red" Robb Waters Noteworthy: Sword Noteworthy: Lance Apprentice: Horse-riding Apprentice: Unarmed Combat Novice: Crossbow Novice: Persuasion Beginner: Stealth Beginner: Locksmith
7) Character Personal History: The nephew of the Stone Hawk, Lord Quentin Fowler, Wencel was gifted Skyreach by the Crown after Lady Alderly’s exile although he was still barely 10 at the time. As he did not seek the lordship, no blame was attached to him by his new vassals, who wearily understood the political realities enforced on them by the iron fist of the Iron Throne. In the years since Rickon's abdication, Wencel has married the heir of the disinherited Blackmont family, Danna Blackmont, and has two children; Wvyar and Wylla. He has ruled Skyreach wisely and has restored some measure of it's previous wealth and power. He is known as a hard but fair lord and is pragmatic enough to disguise his dislike for the non-dornish nobles appointed to vacant seats after the war though not, understandably, Georg Estermont in Blackmont.
8) Character Physical Description: Wencel has the prominent hooked nose of his more illustrious uncle, the Stone Hawk. He is broad-shouldered which makes him appear squat, despite his 5’11” frame. He has shoulder length black hair with smatterings of grey and a close-cropped beard with brown eyes and tanned skin.
9) Character Reputation: Wencel has spent little time outside of Dorne and is not well known in the other Six Kingdoms. Within Dorne, he is known as a capable, ambitious and charismatic lord who does not suffer fools gladly and has little trust in strangers
--------------------
Third: Merrick Sands b. 498 (aged 47) Noteworthy: Stewardship Apprentice: Bargaining Novice: Charm Beginner: Sword
Brief History: Merrick Sands was born to a young peasant woman, the product of an illicit liaison between old Lord Blackmont and a tavern wench. He raised within the Blackmont keep by the old lord and taught letters and numbers by the maester. Initially he thought of nothing more than taking duties as a man-at-arms in Blackmont service but he soon discovered his skill with weapons did not match his quick wits and was soon found more productive work helping the aging castellan of Blackmont. He learned quickly and showed an aptitude for finance and organisation. This promising future was destroyed by the dornish war and the failing fortunes of House Blackmont. Exiled from their own keep, he spent several rough years with the disinherited Blackmont nobles before being taken in by Lord Fowler. Initially skeptical of his talents, Merrick was put to work in low-risk ventures until he proved his skill and earned Lord Wencel's trust. Since then, he has repaid that kindness several times over, helping make House Fowler one of the more profitable houses in the dornish trade lanes to Kings Landing. He is usually to be found running the Hawk's Nest in Kings Landing on behalf of House Fowler's business interests.

7) Character Personal History: Megara is the second child of Lord Gerion Meadows, and younger sister to the Lord Bealor. She has lead a very sheltered life, being thge only daughter. When her father died she began to grow up more quickly and accept the desisisons that her brother made for her. She was taken away from her home when her brother went to meet the Tyrells, as he wanted to find a good match for his sister. When Meg was younger she used to watch Bealor while he trained with his sword and bow, and picked up certain skills form him.
She was taken to King's Landing where she met William Tyrell, and displeased Bealor who sent her back home. On the way back she was kidnapped by her cousin Brellen, who forced her into marriage. She was rescued by William and Bealor, and was married to William Tyrell.
When her brother Bealor died she was briefly Lady of Grassy Vale, until her cousin Jymes was called and the title passed to him. Megara then left Grassy Vale with William and went to Dawnrose Keep.
Megara had 4 children with William before the death of his father Lord Tallahar. The first, a boy named Bealor in honour of her brother. She then had a girl, who was named Haley, after William's mother. Five years past before she had the twins Victoria and Tallahar. She has grown to be close to all her children.
When Bealor was about the age of 2, Megara's mother during a mad stage tried to kidnap her granson, and possibly kill him after convincing herself that both William and Megara had parts to play in the deaths of both her son, and of her nephew Jaymes.
Megara and William took Lady Meadows to Lord Tallaher, who dealt with her swiftly. Meg couldnt bear to watch, even after all that her mother had done to her.
Before Haley was born, Meg asked Lord Tallaher for the honour of naming her next child either Haley or Tallaher, something that he took quite well. William didnt know about the talk though and was surprized when Meg named Haley.
Though Meg and William had a few arguements (mostly about the upbringing of their children) they have also grown quite a bit closer, and William even managed to teach Meg a few more tricks with the sword.
William's brother Damin is still quite taken with Meg, after the two of them had been stuck together while the Baskaliks invaded, something that William has never quite understood.

Post by Lord Rupert Trant on Oct 15, 2008 19:27:57 GMT -5
1) Character Name: Lord Rupert Trant
2) Character Age: 19 (Born 326 A.C.)
3) Character Nationality: Stormlands
4) Character Byname: The Trembling Trant
5) Character Skills (Choose 2 beginner skills, 2 novice skills, 2 apprentice skills, and 2 noteworthy skills and 1 expert skill):
Expert- Horesemanship Noteworthy- Swordsmanship/shield use style (very defensive fighter) Noteworthy- Lance Apprentice- Leadership Apprentice- Healing/Mending Novice- Archery Novice- Hunting/Tracking Beginner- Stewardship Beginner- Battle
7) Character Personal History:
Born the third son of Varen Trant, Rupert was allowed his peculiarities considering that he was not likely to inherit the lands of his father. These divergences in personality were nominally that the young Trant was terrified of conflict. A coward, a craven, what have you, he preferred the quiet solace of the garden or kitchens, where conflict was no likely to happen. Not violent conflict in any case. Rupert spent his childhood fantasizing about his adult destiny, as most children do. But whereas most young boys dream of knighthood and land, Rupert deigned for the comfort of the Citadel at Oldtown, a place where he could be safe from the treachery and evils of the war-like world around him.
Unfortunately, when his dream finally came true, it was laced with the bitterness of the tragic discovery that the young Rupert was completely incapable of reading written word. The words on the page swam and jumbled themselves in his mind, and this created many difficulties as there were not many of his brothers free to read the information for him. So, with trouble and sadness in his heart, Rupert returned to Gallowsgrey. His father took this opportunity to assign him as a squire to Ser Uther Hasty, a personally, and fairly laborious favor.
Rupert was ten and three, and though his reflexes were quick, he often refused to attack with his sword, afraid that he might leave himself open to being wounded. In lieu of this, he developed, quite instinctively, his own form of protection. He relied so heavily on his shield, that he soon began to use it in both his defensive, and his offensive techniques. While not lethal, the blows from a solid shield can disorient, and sometimes greatly wound an individual. This became more and more obvious as Rupert grew, and his body conformed to the familial traits that the Trants had possessed for centuries. However, Ser Uther often found himself disappointed that the youth would only join a fight if it was absolutely unavoidable, so great were his fears.
When Ser Uther was killed in tourney, Rupert returned to Gallowsgrey again, ten and seven, a knightless squire, a coward without merit, and a third son. And so he spent the majority of the next two years learning from Maester Godfrey in the art of healing wounds. It was Godfrey's belief that if the boy could learn to mend a bone, or stitch a gash, that his fears would be at least somewhat quelled. Rupert found comfort in the work, and he thoroughly enjoyed carrying around a pack full of objects that could fix most things. It made him feel important, and to a degree, a little less afraid.
Then there was only fire. An inferno that spun through the halls of Gallowsgrey like a roiling, fluorescent tongue. It had moved so swiftly, that Rupert only just had time to reach the outside before the flames devoured his room.
When the smoke cleared, Rupert found that most of his family had been taken. His father, two eldest brothers, one of his younger brothers and his youngest sister were all killed in the fire. The pain of their loss was coupled with the fear that he knew would not be easily swept under the rug. He was the new lord of Gallowsgrey.
8) Character Physical Description: Tall and muscular, lanky but strong. His dark hair falls passed his ears, framing a face that might appear fierce if the large, blue eyes didn't look so innocent. He has just recently begun to grow a beard, at the advice that it might make him appear older.
9) Character Reputation:
He was the boy hiding behind his mother's skirt during assemblies and meetings, avoiding eye contact and shared words with the adults that visited his father. Throughout his childhood, he was very much the most timid child of Varen Trant, a trait his father disliked heartily. It was for this reason he was called the "Trembling Trant". He is known for being very avoidant of combat situations and of death, hiding his head during any hangings that were performed. Though he is somewhat heralded as a true force to be reckoned with at the joust, it is one of his only redeeming reputable traits.
Character's Second: Leonard Buckler (Son of the Master of Arms at Gallowsgrey)
Noteworthy- Sword Noteworthy- Animal Magnetism (fixed) Apprentice- Battle Apprentice- Navigation Novice- Stewardship Novice- Information Gathering Beginner- Reading Beginner- Hunting/Tracking

When his father was murdered, he and his brother were only infants, and they were carried away to Hammerhorn, the keep of their grandfather Lord Joramun Goodbrother, to be kept safe. When the pretender king Erik Coldiron was defeated and killed, Qhored Harlaw was returned to Pyke, so that he could be seen to be holding on to his claim.
As Dagon Harlaw's sons were too young to rule the Islands, Joramun was chosen as it's overlord by the crown. Joramun travelled to Pyke, to rule from there and raise his grandsons to be able and fit warriors. Balon Harlaw was also raised in Pyke, and soon Wulf Pyke was to arrive there too. Qhored, Balon and Wulf became extremely close, and Qhored began too view Wulf as a brother more than as his uncle.
When Joramun died and his son Tigon ascended to leadership, Lord Janos Satlcliffe rebelled against the Goodbrothers. Qhored sided with Joramun's and led the forces which defeated Saltcliffe and Lord Frenken Volmark the Kinslayer.
After that, with most adult Goodbrothers dead, Lord Qhored claimed lordship of the Iron Islands by right of strength, and married the daughter of Tigon Goodbrother to cement his rule.

5) Character Skills (Choose 2 beginner skills, 2 novice skills, 2 apprentice skills, and 2 noteworthy skills):
Expert: Axe Noteworthy: Naval Battle Apprentice: Battle, Wolf Training Novice: Sailing, Unarmed Combat Beginner: Riding, Throwing Axes
7) Character Persona History: Wulf Pyke, the bastard child of Lord Felryn Harlaw and Lady Aranya Royce, grew up trying to reconcile the conflicting influences of his mother's kin and father's kin. At age six he left Duskendale, where he had been raised since he mother died by his brother and sister, Brynden and Selyse Royce. He was shipped to the land of his father, the harsh and unforgiving Iron Islands.
Wulf's first reaction to the Islands was not positive. Feeling abandoned and alone, his only companion was the half wolf-half direwolf pup that had been given to him before he left Dukendale. The boy was not able to understand why he had been sent to the Islands. He was raised by his aunt, Besha Harlaw, a large fierce woman who had been married to a Tyrell. Besha had lost all the family she had started in the Reach, and had returned to the Islands to spend her last years alone. She found a new cause in Wulf, and began helping him become a true Ironborn.
Having spent his early years as a 'greenlander' Wulf was not immediately accepted by the children his age. Wulf was forced to prove himself to be as tough and strong and brave as they were, even as a young boy. He was soon after accepted by his nephews, Qhored and Balon Harlaw, who were of an age of him. But Wulf never took to either the Drowned God of hs father or the nameless Northern gods of his mother. Instead he chose the Seven of the greenlands, that his brother Brynden followed.
He was squired to Ser Yoren Botley, another one of the rare followers of the Seven on the Islands. Ser Yoren was a skilled captain and fighter, and taught Wulf much. He also taught Wulf how the vows of knighthood were not incompatible with the way of the Ironborn. Wulf Pyke would swear to protect the weak and the helpless, but a man grown who was able to defend himself was a different matter.
Ser Yoren took Wulf with him when he went pirating in the Narrow Sea. In their travels they did not hesitate to take any trading vessels and gained a reputation as ccomplishd pirates. But they did not reave, and women and children, and men who did not resist, went unharmed when they were captured.
During the several years that he sailed the seas with Ser Yoren, he had several opportunities to return to Duskendale and King's Landing, and he remained close with his mother's family throughout his life, cementing the dual nature of his life.
When he finally returned to the Iron Islands as a newly made knight, civil war was brewing on the Islands. King Rodrick's pro-Braavosi nature had been provoking outrage in some parts of the Islands, and this outrage became directed at Lord Goodbrother who supported the king. My new first, I'm dropping Ser Mychel. Smithy, RP him at your leisure Character Name: Ser Samuel Tarly Character Age: 22 (b. 523) Character Nationality: Andal (Far Reachman) Character Skills: Expert: Swordsmanship (Longsword) Noteworthy: Battle Command Noteworthy: Marksmanship (Longbow) Apprentice: Horsemanship (Riding) Apprentice: Lance Novice: Falconry Novice: Religion Beginner: Tracking Beginner: Unarmed Combat Character Personal History: Ser Samuel Tarly was born in 523, the first child of Lord Robert Tarly by his wife, Lisette Vaith. Lord Tarly had acquitted himself during the War of Dornish Secession, and was one of many lords who married young Dornish women in attempts to secure Dorne's relations with the other kingdoms in the future. Though it worked to some degree, since the Dornish war, the Far Reach has grown reclusive and xenophobic, causing Ser Samuel to be somewhat disdained by his peers. Ser Samuel was only three years younger than Lord Loren Irwyn who squired for Lord Tarly, so he developed a friendship with the son of the famous Alexander Irwyn for a few years before the young man earned his spurs. Samuel was one of three children, with two younger sisters, and he served as a page and then squire for Lord Redwyne in the 530s, earning his spurs at nineteen. He never took to life at sea, and proved to be a poor sailor despite Lord Redwyne's best attempts. Ser Samuel returned to Horn Hill after his squireship, where he has remained since, training with the sword and bow, and going hunting with his father who has remained one of the staunchest supporters and followers of Lord Hightower's leadership. He often goes hawking, owning and breeding falcons as a hobby, since he knows it is unlikely that he will inherit Horn Hill any time soon. Character Physical Description: Ser Samuel stands just short of six feet, with a moderate build. He is well muscled from his years of training as a knight, though he is not the enormous giant that many knights grow to be. His visage does not at all betray his Dornish blood, and he has shoulder-length brown hair that falls in an unkempt tangle, and a brown beard covers part of his face, though he keeps it relatively neatly trimmed. He has high, prominent cheekbones and brown eyes, giving him a rugged look, which draws the attentions of women with little difficulty. He tends to shy away from wearing the bright reds and greens of his house, preferring earthier tones like darker greens and browns. Character Reputation: He is known through the Far Reach as the young heir to Horn Hill, though some in the Far Reach look down on him due to his mother's Dornish blood.

6) Character's Second: Ser Furman Redwyne
7) Character Personal History: Jayk Redwyne was an inquisitive child, interested in almost everything he saw and an incessant asker of questions. The Arbor's proximity to Oldtown afforded him access to some of the finest Maesters in Westeros as tutors. He proved to be intelligent and receptive, with a respect for knowledge and (in particular) with an interest in all things to do with the sea. He had a strong sense of duty, instilled in him by his conscientious father Lord Peyton Redwyne, and did his best to acquire all those skills that a Lord of such a mercantile region as the Arbor might need. His fascination with carpentry was encouraged; the maintenance of the Redwyne fleet was an important duty for the lords of the Arbor, and being able to judge the ship builders' efforts himself could only be a bonus.
As a fighter, Jayk acquitted himself well enough. He was a fair enough swordsman, fierce on the attack but not to the point of recklessness. His preference was for the bastard sword, wearing studded leather rather than anything that would drag him to the bottom of the ocean in an instant. He also received the compulsory training in the use of the lance that any lord must have, but obviously an islander would never have the opportunity or motive to become a fantastic rider.
To give him some experience away from the Arbor, Lord Peyton sent Jayk to squire with the Cuys. Recent conflicts with Dorne had made the House more militaristic, so he learned many of the ways of knighthood there. Once he had finally earned the title of 'Ser', Jayk returned to the Arbor to oversee an overhaul of the Redwyne fleet; trading for the necessary materials gave him some experience in dealing with the merchants who frequently passed through the Arbor. For the next decade Jayk spent his time fighting pirates and improving the Redwynes' trade links, particularly with prosperous Sunspear.
8) Character Physical Description: Jayk is of average height, with a tanned and wiry figure. His blond hair and happy blue eyes give him a somewhat carefree appearance. At home, inspecting the vineyards or strolling in the countryside Jayk appears very relaxed; on horseback and when discussing weighty matters, this is not the case.
9) Character Reputation: His skill at arms is not ranked amongst the highest in the land, but it is not shameful either. There's a good chance that those with trading interests in the Far Reach or Dorne will have heard of him, and will probably respect his efforts there. What he is most well known for is his ship building; naval commanders and those on the lookout for finely constructed ships will likely know his name.

5) Character Skills:
Noteworthy: Naval Command Noteworthy: Sword Apprentice: Sailing Apprentice: Stealth Apprentice: Persuasion Novice: Trading Beginner: Brawling Beginner: Intrigue
7) Character Personal History: Ser Furman is, in brief, Lord Jayk's envious younger brother. A fierce, passionate and somewhat greedy man, his jealousy has turned to scorn, and to see the two men in the same room is not a pleasant experience. Not at all good with animals, Furman has forsaken jousting to enhance his natural proficiency with the sword; he might make a decent fighter if he was not consistently drunk. He enjoys wine to the point of excess; not just from the Arbor, but from elsewhere also.
Furman grew up almost without leaving the Arbor at all; upon coming of age, a wanderlust took over him. He sailed a ship as far West as Lannisport and as far East as King's Landing, trading and amassing a collection of fine wine. There were rumours, dogging his footsteps upon occasion, that he had taken to smuggling, but nothing was ever proven.
Ultimately, Furman is loyal to his heritage; House Redwyne. His personal enmity with his brother can create some ugly tensions, but at a distance the two are capable of cooperating to a certain extent.
8) Character Physical Description: Furman has muddy red-brown hair, angry blue-grey eyes and a noticeable belly.
9) Character Reputation: Furman is known as a drunk to those who have heard of him, but a resourceful, fierce and cunning drunk at that, with a fine taste in wine. His wine cellar is one of the finest in the Reach. He is good at making friends with those who do not mind their companions being somewhat heavy drinkers, and who have a less than untarnished reputation.
