"Yes, it always bothered me that they just showed up with their Dragons when the realm needed them the most and then slide right back into ruling like nothings changed."

The older man ran a finger down a large scar down his neck, "I served in that campaign. And the Targaryens were treated like heroes, even though they would not help until the King knelt. It felt like simple blackmail to me."

Kenneth sighed, "my sympathies colonel, I heard that the campaigns against the Others were truly horrendous, my father was too young he fought in the battle of Pyke with Lord Baratheon, though he told me my Grandfather fought against the Ironborn when they raided the Reach, you must of served with Lord Thatcher then after things fell apart with Queen Rhaeyns. . . in the battles against Royce and Mallister?" Kenneth guessed given his Traitor Son heritage.

"I left his service though... could not stomach serving the dragons. Formed my own band." the Colonel replied. "Which I presume you have come to hire away?"

Kenneth blushed he had hoped his efforts had not been so obvious. "Well I had hoped I could convince some to return to Westeros in my service."

"You are planning to hire me? Life must be good for your band if you can afford to my group of men." The Colonel replied.

"Yes well I am not sure I can afford to hire ALL of them Colonel, although I can attest to your men's skill the Lord Thatcher trained you all well. My man Brandon here served with the Traitor Son's as well.
Brandon Redrivers nods to the Colonel out of respect for their service although he is not familiar with him. Kenneth continues.
"I have fought against your brothers and with them on both sides of this conflict and I surely prefer the latter," the Knight of Coin says continuing.

The Colonel nodded, "So what is your proposal exactly?"

"500 Dragons for 500 Men, renewable every year so long as I have the gold to pay them? And my word that they'll never bow before the Dragon."

"Will we be fighting against the dragon?" The Colonel asked, "Cause that is only slightly less dangerous then fighting for them."

Kenneth laughed, "although both are safer than fighting for the idiots that run the Free Cities, I heard their were opportunities in Dorne or Storm's End although I intend first to travel to Oldtown to examine the situation there. If the rumors of the King's marriage are true than there must be rioting now on the steps of the Starry Sept."

The Colonel nodded, "The Rumors are true, but the wedding was presided over by the High Septon himself."

"After his predecessor fell down the stairs, I think I recall. . . how tragically fortunate for the King, course the Most Devout have not had spines for some time, I think the Cult removed most of them well ahead of the others arrival."

The Colonel snorted, "Indeed. How can you be sure to employ us with so little need of our services?"

"I guess that is my problem as long as the coin spends, but if we find no service I am sure that we can always be employed by one of the Sea lords or perhaps a Baratheon or a Martell, trust me there will be no shortage of work for us in this world."
