Prince Daeron is brought into the main courtyard of Casterly Rock his hands and feet bound. There a small stand has been raised. A man stands there holding an axe. Behind him, a Septon, clutching a book of hymns and a crystal. The courtyard is otherwise empty.
The Sons march him up the small set of stairs, then step back.
"Would you like to say a prayer with me son?" the Septon asks.

Daeron indicates his incompatable mouth and shakes his head.

The Septon mouths a quiet pray. "May the Father judge you justly," The Septon says.
"Kneel your grace and lay your head on the block," says the man with the axe, "Sorry I ain't get to be your champion," he added with a small grin.

Daeron returned what would have been a smile, knelt and laid his head on the block.

Goodman Dogget shrugged and brought the axe down.

Dogget whistles as he cleans the head, and puts it in a sack cloth bag to be dipped and tar and mounted on the Traitor's walk.

Arya was listening to what was being said but couldn't bear to watch. She snuck a glance after she heard the axe come down and wretched out vomit onto the floor. He face was white and she dabbed it with a hankey she carried with her. "Septon," she called out, hoping he would hear her voice and come over.

Joanna was not present; she had claimed sickness and kept to her chambers. Benjen Blackfyre, however, was there to witness Daeron's death on her behalf. He made no visible reaction throughout but stood grim-faced the whole time.

Barristan was there to see his goodbrother die. He did not wish it for Daeron and he deserved his family to be there on this day.

The Septon approaches Arya, seeming surprised to see all these people present, since just moments before the courtyard was empty.
"Yes milady?" he asked.

Maekar had been there the whole time, to watch his brother die. He had a grim expression on his face. He tapped his foot once subtly as the axe came down.

Quentyn is there too. He does not watch the axe fall. He turns and sees his cousin Maekar nearby and sighs. "Do you believe in an afterlife like the septons say, Maekar?"

"I don't believe any speculation about an afterlife is relevant, Quentyn," he said, looking at his brother's body. His voice sounded distant. "Either one exists or it doesn't, this life is still the same. Why do you ask?"
